2024 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD: Redesigned Inside and Out for the Modern Adventurer
Kia’s significantly refreshed 2024 Seltos is here, aiming to captivate those who live life on the move. With a notable 25 percent increase in sales in 2023 over the previous year, Kia is ready to build on this momentum with the newly redesigned Seltos. Promising a "more commanding presence, inside and out," this compact crossover may indeed be a solid choice for consumers seeking both style and functionality.
Smooth Operator
The 2024 Seltos comes in five trim levels, featuring two engine options, with the choice of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). We spent a week testing the Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD, equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. This engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, allows the Seltos to achieve a respectable zero-to-60 mph time of 7.1 seconds.
Fuel efficiency is also notable, with the 1.6L turbo delivering an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city, 27 highway, and 26 combined. During our Southern California test drive, we averaged an impressive 27.1 mpg over 166 miles. For those who prefer a different driving experience, the Seltos offers three modes: Normal, Smart, and Sport, catering to various driving styles and conditions.
For those opting for the lower trims with the 2.0-liter engine, expect 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), achieving a commendable 28 mpg city, 34 highway, and 31 combined.
Driving Experience: On the Road
Although the Seltos SX Turbo isn’t the quickest off the line, it offers a smooth acceleration once the turbocharger kicks in. The AWD system utilizes torque vectoring to enhance traction and stability, giving the Seltos a solid road presence. With minimal body roll and excellent steering feedback, the Seltos feels composed even at higher speeds on freeway ramps. Minor wind noise and road noise were observed, especially on certain paved surfaces, but overall, the ride remains pleasant. The 18-inch machined alloy wheels and Kuhmo 235/45 all-season tires contribute to the vehicle’s handling capabilities.
For snowy or icy conditions, the Seltos is equipped with a Center Lock button to ensure traction at low speeds. This feature proves handy when road conditions are less than ideal.
Refreshed and Updated: Exterior
Slotting between the Soul and Sportage, the 2024 Seltos has a slightly longer wheelbase and an increase in overall length, which contributes to its distinctive look. Our test vehicle’s Snow White Pearl paint and updated styling, including LED projection headlights and an upgraded tiger nose grille with a horizontal LED light bar, make the Seltos stand out. The sleek side profile, chrome accents, and integrated spoiler add to the sophisticated design, while the rear features LED tail lights and a well-designed lift gate.
And Inside
Inside, the Kia Seltos offers ample space for front and rear passengers, with features like heated and ventilated front seats covered in SynTex. The driver’s seat comes with 10-way power adjustments, while the passenger seat has manual adjustments. The updated infotainment system includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Kia’s UVO telematics, navigation, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. Convenience features such as wireless charging, multiple USB ports, and a sunroof add to the vehicle’s appeal. Additionally, a unique multi-dimensional grille design for the speakers and mood lighting enhance the interior ambiance.
The rear seats fold down to provide up to 62.8 cubic feet of cargo space, and the dual-level cargo floor offers additional storage flexibility.
Safety and Warranties
Safety is a paramount concern for Kia, and the Seltos boasts numerous standard and optional safety features, including multiple airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. While the 2024 Seltos has yet to be rated by the NHTSA, it has received a Good rating from the IIHS.
Warranty coverage includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, and five years/60,000 miles of roadside assistance.

The 2024 Seltos is available in five trim levels, with base prices as follows:
- LX AWD: $25,865
- S FWD: $26,465
- S AWD: $27,965
- EX FWD: $27,265

I don’t get all the hype. It’s just another crossover like all the others. nothing special here.
Good to know it gets decent mpg but i heard somethin that the CVT’s are not that reliable on this kiAs. maybe stick to the turbo?
Why would anyone buy a Kia when there are better options like Toyota and Honda? Kia might look nice now, but let’s see it last 10 years lol.
Greg36, my old Kia is still running strong at 100k miles. Maybe do some research first?
Haha, good joke. Kia is just cheap plastic.
This car sounds perfect for my weekend trips. I’m def considering this for my next buy.
Florence, did you see the cargo space? Awesome for camping gear!
