FYI: Ford is set to debut the updated 2025 Expedition featuring a new front-end design and a rugged Expedition Tremor model.
Ford Nears Unveiling of Updated Expedition
Introduction:
Ford is gearing up to reveal the refreshed 2025 Expedition SUV, which will accompany the newly updated 2024 F-150 pickup truck. As part of its latest overhaul, the Expedition promises to deliver significant enhancements and a new variant aimed at adventure enthusiasts.
Historical Context:
The existing Ford Expedition has been cruising on the roads since its introduction in 2017 as a 2018 model and saw its first round of updates for the 2022 model year. Now, aiming for a 2025 model year release, Ford is bringing in the second wave of updates. Its luxury sibling, the Lincoln Navigator, has already received its 2025 updates.
Teaser and Debut:
After over a year of testing disguised prototypes on public roadways, Ford has confirmed that the official debut of the refreshed Expedition will be on October 3. A recently released teaser photo sheds light on the updated front-end design, which showcases a wider grille flanked by a light strip that seamlessly integrates the headlights with the daytime running lights. The chunky headlights of the current model make way for sleeker, thinner versions in this redesign.
Spy Shots and Models:
Spy shots of the forthcoming Expedition also suggest the debut of a rugged Expedition Tremor model. Already, the 2022 Expedition lineup includes the off-road capable Timberline model featuring steel skid plates, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires, and a unique chassis modification granting an additional 0.9 inches of ground clearance.
However, the new prototype sports even sturdier 33-inch General Grabber All-Terrain tires, the same as those on the F-150 Tremor. Complementing these tires are 18-inch wheels that mirror the F-150 off-roader’s design.
Powertrain Rumors:
Rumors are rife that Ford might equip the new Expedition with a hybrid powertrain, like the one in the redesigned 2021 F-150. This setup employs a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission, producing a robust 430 horsepower.
Currently, the Expedition is only available with the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, offering 380 horsepower standard and 400 horsepower in premium models like the King Ranch and Platinum editions.
Conclusion:
As Ford prepares to unveil the refreshed 2025 Expedition, anticipation builds around its sleek new design, rugged Tremor model, and potential powertrain innovations. Scheduled for debut on October 3, this powerhouse SUV promises to blend advanced technology with robust capabilities, further solidifying its stand in the competitive SUV market.
