FYI: Lucid Air Grand Touring Proves It Can Deliver 500+ Mile Range at Highway Speeds
2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring Real-World Test: Exceeds Expectations
The era of the 500-mile electric vehicle (EV) has officially arrived with the 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring. The standout luxury sedan already boasts an impressive EPA rating of 512 miles on a full charge, but what happens when it’s tested in real-world conditions at highway speeds?
Lucid Air’s Impressive Highway Performance
Out of Spec Reviews recently put the Lucid Air Grand Touring to the ultimate test, maintaining a steady 70 mph on the highway. In these conditions—which typically yield lower range figures due to the higher stress on the battery and motors—the Lucid Air still managed to impress.
Achieving EPA Ratings
Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid Motors, has been vocal about their technology being years ahead of the competition. This test seems to support his claim. During the highway test, the Lucid Air Grand Touring with 19-inch wheels achieved an energy efficiency of 4.4 miles per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This exceeds the EPA’s listed figure of 3.8 miles per kWh for the vehicle.
Testing Conditions
Test driver Kyle Conner set off with a full charge, climate control at 70 degrees, and all non-essential features like heated and ventilated seats turned off. Cruise control was locked at 72 mph (70 mph as per GPS).
The Results
The Lucid Air Grand Touring did not just meet its EPA rating; it surpassed it. The car traveled an astounding 510.4 miles before once cutting power and eventually reaching 523.7 miles, leveraging some downhill stretches. At this point, it finally exhausted its battery, requiring a tow to the starting charger where it promptly began recharging at over 130 kilowatts.
In-Depth Efficiency
Lucid Motors has equipped the 2025 model with several enhancements. A heat pump now comes standard across all trims, and improved computing power for the infotainment system further elevates the driving experience.
Conclusion
The 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring sets a new benchmark in the EV industry, proving that its 500+ mile range is achievable even under less-than-ideal conditions like constant highway speeds. It combines luxury with state-of-the-art efficiency, setting a high bar for competitors in the electric vehicle market.
