FYI: The 2025 Mazda CX-90 Refines Trims and Pricing with Exciting New Features
Mazda’s three-row SUV, the CX-90, enters 2025 with several updates designed to enhance its appeal and maintain competitive pricing. Following an overhaul from the previous model year, Mazda has revamped its trim offerings for the CX-90, streamlined the lineup, and introduced new features without significant price hikes.
Refreshed Trims and Updated Features
For 2025, the Mazda CX-90 lineup now includes six mild-hybrid trims, reducing from eight in 2024. The Preferred Plus, Premium, and S Premium trims have been discontinued. In their place, Mazda has introduced the Premium Sport trim, which builds on the Preferred trim with a sporty blackout aesthetic. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options remain at three trims, now featuring a dark-themed Premium Sport trim.
Enhanced Tech and Convenience
The 2025 Preferred trim benefits from a tech upgrade, moving to a 12.3-inch infotainment screen—previously exclusive to the Premium Plus in 2024. This enhancement includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and front and rear parking sensors, raising the bar for convenience and connectivity.
Eye-Catching Premium Sport Trim
The new Premium Sport trim adds visual flair and functionality:
- Exterior: Black chrome wing, gloss black grille, and black accents on bumpers, door garnishes, mirrors, roof rails, and 21-inch wheels.
- Interior: Power panoramic roof, digital cluster with head-up display, eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
- Tech and Safety: Frameless rearview mirror, hands-free rear hatch, and Mazda Intelligent Drive Select for versatile driving modes (Sport, Off-road, Tow).
The Premium Sport also features a robust array of driver aids, including Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist, Cruising & Traffic Support, Frontal Collision-Avoidance Assist, Road Keep Assist, and Secondary Collision Mitigation.
2025 CX-90 Pricing
Despite the enhancements, price increases are modest, ranging between $80 and $580 depending on the trim. Here’s a breakdown:
Mild-Hybrid Trims:
- Select: $39,300 (+$80)
- Preferred: $42,400 (+$80)

Power and Performance
Under the hood, the mild-hybrid trims sport a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine, churning out 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all-wheel drive. The PHEV models combine a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a 17.8 kWh battery, offering a combined 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and an estimated 26-mile electric-only range.
