FYI: The Nissan Altima’s days are numbered, with production expected to end by 2025. Here’s what 2025 prospects can anticipate from this enduring model.
The Nissan Altima’s Farewell Tour: What to Expect in 2025
Anonymous sources recently disclosed to Automotive News that Nissan’s Altima model will wrap up its production by the close of the 2025 model year. However, other insiders speculate it could last another couple of years. Despite the looming end, Nissan’s latest reveal gives 2025 Altima buyers a clear picture of what to expect in the twilight of this model’s journey.
Powertrain Updates
For the 2025 model year, Nissan has retired the top-tier SR VC-Turbo variant, previously equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This leaves the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as the sole option. It generates 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that can deliver power to either the front or all four wheels, depending on the trim.
Pricing Adjustments
The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) has seen a modest increase for 2025. Here are the updated prices, which include a $1,140 destination charge, compared with the 2023 model:
- S: $28,140 (up by $630)
- SV: $28,570 (up by $260)
- SR: $29,970 (up by $260)
- SL: $34,470 (up by $260)
Choosing all-wheel drive on the SV, SR, and SL trims adds $1,500 to the cost.
Safety and Value Additions
Every Altima in 2025 will feature Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of driver-assist technologies, including:
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Blind-spot warning
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Lane departure warning
- High-beam assist
- Rear automatic braking
Additionally, Nissan introduces a new Maintenance Care program, offering up to three scheduled oil changes within the first two years or 24,000 miles of ownership.
Trim Enhancements and Features
The base S trim now includes the 8-inch infotainment system, previously exclusive to higher trims. Meanwhile, the SV trim offers an optional Special Edition package incorporating:
- Rear spoiler
- Illuminated tread plates
- 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels
- Moonroof
- 12.3-inch infotainment display
- Dual-zone climate control
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Wireless phone charging pad
- Faux carbon fiber trim
Moreover, the SR trim will feature new 19-inch bronze wheels, replacing the current dark silver option.
Conclusion
The legacy of the Nissan Altima may be nearing its end, but the 2025 model stands as a testament to its enduring appeal, enhanced with thoughtful updates and technology. As the Altima prepares for its final roll-out, it remains a competitive choice in the mid-size sedan market.
