FYI: Nissan’s 2025 Frontier Pickup Unveiled with Enhanced Towing, Fresh Design, and New Tech Features
Nissan has introduced an updated version of its Frontier pickup for 2025, bringing significant enhancements to this midsize truck. Scheduled to hit dealerships later this summer, the latest model promises improved towing capacity, new in-car technology, and a broader availability for the desirable 6-foot bed option.
A Revamped Design for 2025
The 2025 Nissan Frontier makes a bold statement with its redesigned front end, which now boasts a refreshed front fascia, grille design, and a revamped tailgate finisher specifically for the heavy-duty PRO-X and PRO-4X models. New 17-inch wheels and a vibrant new exterior color, dubbed Afterburn Orange, add to the truck’s modern aesthetic.
Upgraded Interior and Tech Features
Inside, the 2025 Frontier offers several refined features. Key upgrades include new dashboard trim and a telescoping steering wheel, enhancing driver comfort. Every model now comes standard with a sliding rear window and a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat. A major tech upgrade is the 12.3-inch infotainment screen that replaces the previous 9.0-inch option. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come as standard, offering seamless smartphone integration.
Off-Road Capabilities
For off-road enthusiasts, the PRO-4X model remains the top choice. It includes part-time four-wheel drive, an electronic locking differential, Bilstein off-road suspension components, and all-terrain tires. New for this model year is an enhanced surround-view camera system, featuring an off-road mode functional at speeds up to 12 mph.
Luxury and Convenience in the SL Model
Those looking for a higher-end experience will appreciate the SL model, which comes equipped with leather-trimmed seats, a heated leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and a premium Fender audio system with 10 speakers. Additional features include a surround-view camera system and traffic sign recognition, making it both luxurious and safe.
Increased Towing Capacity
The Frontier’s power comes from the same 3.8-liter V6 engine, delivering 310 horsepower and paired exclusively with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Notably, towing capacity has been boosted by approximately 500 pounds across all models and configurations, bringing the maximum tow rating to 7,150 pounds, up from 6,640 pounds in the 2024 model.
Market Launch and Competition
The 2025 Frontier will be available in showrooms later this summer, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch date. This update aims to keep Nissan competitive in the midsize pickup segment, as the market faces new entrants like the redesigned 2024 Ford Ranger and 2024 Toyota Tacoma.
Looking Ahead
Nissan is also planning a one-ton pickup truck for the North American market, to be built in Mexico in collaboration with Mitsubishi. Both companies have hinted at upcoming electric pickup trucks, though specifics remain under wraps.
