FYI: Volkswagen has finally released the official pricing and electric range details for its much-anticipated ID. Buzz electric minivan.
Volkswagen Unveils Pricing and Electric Range for the 2025 ID. Buzz
Volkswagen has finally announced the official pricing and electric range for its long-awaited ID. Buzz electric minivan, first introduced as a concept in 2017. While it’s not the most affordable option on the market, its features and performance make it a strong contender at a starting price of $61,545, which includes a $1,550 delivery fee.
Range and Performance
All ID. Buzz models come with a 91 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel-drive version offers 282 horsepower and boasts the longest range at 234 miles per charge. However, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant, which delivers 335 horsepower, still manages a respectable 231 miles of range.
Pricing and Trim Options
The ID. Buzz is available in three trims: Pro S, Pro S Plus, and 1st Edition. Notably, only the Pro S Plus and 1st Edition offer the all-wheel-drive option, which adds $4,500 to the base price. Here’s a breakdown of the pricing:
- Pro S: $61,545
- Pro S Plus: $65,045
- 1st Edition: $67,045
Comparing the Competition
When compared to other three-row electric vehicles, the ID. Buzz falls between the more affordable Kia EV9 and the higher-end Tesla Model X. The Kia EV9 starts at $56,395 and offers a comparable range but less power. Its $60,695 version extends the range to 304 miles but still has lower power output compared to the ID. Buzz. Tesla’s Model X, while also a three-row option, starts at nearly $80,000, making it significantly more expensive.
Feature-Rich Pro S
Despite being the base model, the Pro S comes well-equipped. It offers limited color options in white, silver, and black. Interior choices include Copper or Moonlight, both featuring leatherette upholstery. The Pro S includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a host of heated features including the front seats and steering wheel. Driver assistance is robust with adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking under the IQ.Drive suite.
Upgraded Pro S Plus
The Pro S Plus trim adds more luxurious options including two-tone paint for an extra $995. Interior options expand to light gray leatherette with orange-brown piping or the Dune interior with light faux wood trim. This trim also includes a head-up display, a surround-view camera, and a high-end 14-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system. Additionally, the all-wheel-drive version features a heated windshield and optional second-row captain chairs. An electrochromic panoramic sunroof can be added for $1,495, and the Flexboard provides a flat load floor and extra storage for an additional yet unspecified fee.
Exclusive 1st Edition
The 1st Edition trim, available only for the model’s first year, will feature the Dune interior and unique color combinations such as Energetic Orange and Pomelo Yellow. This top-tier trim includes all previously optional features as standard, along with distinctive wheels, badging, and a mystery gift for first-year customers.
Conclusion
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz brings a fresh and nostalgic twist to the electric vehicle market, blending classic styling with modern technology. Its competitive pricing and feature set make it a worthy consideration among three-row EVs.
