## Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class: Preview of a Compact Powerhouse
Mercedes-Benz is in the advanced stages of testing its upcoming CLA-Class compact sedan. Slated for a 2025 release, the new CLA-Class embodies the future of automotive innovation with both hybrid and electric powertrain options.
### Sneak Peek: The CLA-Class Prototype
A redesigned Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class was previewed last year with the Concept CLA-Class. Now, a prototype of the AMG-enhanced version has been spotted making rounds on Germany’s iconic Nurburgring race track.
### Design and Features
The CLA-Class prototype sports large wheels that house a powerful braking system. The rotors, which appear cross-drilled, almost fill the wheels, indicating serious stopping power. Notably, there’s a large camouflage section at the rear, presumably hiding an active rear wing. The taillights incorporate Mercedes’ star logo—a design element that was initially revealed on the Concept CLA-Class.
While interior photos were not captured, if the Concept CLA-Class is any indication, the production model will feature a single digital panel that spans the dashboard. This panel will integrate the instrument cluster, infotainment system, and a third screen for the passenger. Vents for the climate control system are also incorporated into this forward-thinking design.
### New Platform: Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA)
The next-generation CLA-Class and other compact models from Mercedes will be underpinned by the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, which accommodates both hybrid and electric powertrains. The redesigned CLA-Class will be the first model to roll out with this innovative platform.
### Electric Future
The electric version of the CLA-Class is set to form the basis for an AMG model. Separate from the MMA, the electric C-Class and electric GLC-Class have been spotted with Mercedes’ dedicated MB.EA platform. Additionally, AMG is preparing its bespoke AMG.EA EV platform, launching next year on the successor to the GT four-door coupe.
### AMG-Tuned Prototype
Our photographers captured the AMG-tuned CLA-Class prototype, which appears to be all-wheel drive. During winter testing, all four wheels kicked up snow whenever the vehicle accelerated, showcasing its impressive power and control.
### Entry Luxury Series
The new CLA-Class will be part of Mercedes’ revised Entry Luxury segment, which also includes redesigned versions of the CLA-Class Shooting Brake, GLA-Class, and GLB-Class. Like the CLA, these models are expected to feature their own AMG variants.
