FYI: The Czinger 21C has taken the hypercar world by storm, setting new records and outpacing the formidable Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut at Laguna Seca.
Czinger 21C: The New Record-Breaking Beast
Get ready to welcome the Czinger 21C, the hypercar that’s rewriting the rules of the racetrack. This American marvel has not only set a new lap record at the illustrious Laguna Seca but also surpassed the reigning champion, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut.
This formidable machine had already showcased its prowess at the Goodwood Hill Climb, piloted by the adept Chris Ward. After reclaiming the Circuit of the Americas lap record from Hennessey, Czinger had its sights set firmly on Laguna Seca. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut had held the track record at a blazing 1:24.86. However, Czinger’s 21C clocked an astonishing 1:24.75, edging out the Jesko by just a mere tenth of a second.
Power and Performance
Beneath its sleek exterior, the Czinger 21C is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that roars at an unprecedented 11,000 rpm, complemented by three electric motors delivering a combined horsepower of 1,350. This powerhouse propels the car from 0 to "Wow!" in just 1.9 seconds, making a compelling case for being "the fastest car in the world."
The Race Track: The Ultimate Proving Ground
In the realm of hypercars, the racetrack is the ultimate battleground. As Lucas Czinger, Founder, President, and COO of Czinger Vehicles, eloquently stated, “The race track is the ultimate test of who’s best. It’s great to see an industry where companies, innovators, hypercar, and supercar companies are all competing on a level playing field. That level playing field is the race track, and Czinger is an American brand. We’ve grown from the ground up to be technology leaders, to have our cars be the fastest production cars in the world, and today represents all of the years of hard work and individual effort that went into achieving something great.”
The Hypercar World’s New Drama Unfolds
However, resting on laurels isn’t an option in this high-octane world. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut made its record-setting run on its initial attempt. With more practice, who knows how much faster it can go? Meanwhile, American rival Hennessey and the electric powerhouse Rimac Nevera R, boasting 2,078 horsepower, are lurking in the shadows, ready to challenge the throne. It’s a relentless battle reminiscent of "The Hunger Games," where speeds, power, and innovation clash in spectacular fashion.
Our industry insiders had a conversation with Kevin Czinger at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. The Californian hypercar maker still has several tracks on its hit list. While he remained tight-lipped about their exact targets, it’s clear that a European lap record is on the horizon, with plans set for 2025.
