The Board of Estimates received two competitive bids and ultimately recommended Tesla to supply the needed passenger cars and sedans.
The purchase, approved through a transparent and competitive bidding process, allows for two one-year renewal options solely at the city’s discretion. The estimated budget of $5 million is set to cover the acquisition of about 147 Tesla vehicles, a blend of Model 3 and Model Y units.
