Apple Unveils "F1" Movie Starring Brad Pitt, Slated for 2025 Release
Apple’s highly anticipated F1 movie, starring Brad Pitt, is officially titled "F1" and is set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025. This announcement came during the 2024 British Grand Prix, alongside the release of its first teaser trailer, generating substantial buzz among F1 fans and movie enthusiasts alike.
In "F1," Brad Pitt portrays veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to team up with rookie driver Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. The two drivers form an unlikely duo on the fictional APXGP team. The plot draws comparisons to the 2001 movie "Driven," but swaps out Sylvester Stallone and the CART series for Pitt and the world of Formula One.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his thrilling aerial sequences in "Top Gun: Maverick," the film boasts an impressive cast. Alongside Pitt and Idris are Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. The trailer teases high-octane action with the modified single-seaters standing in for actual F1 cars, promising an adrenaline-filled experience.
Kosinski’s directorial prowess is evident in the trailer’s gripping on-track action sequences. In a unique move, the film features real F1 teams in supporting roles and a cameo from former Haas team boss Günther Steiner. Adding to its authenticity, the production has received unprecedented access from F1, allowing filmmakers to capture scenes during actual race weekends. This approach aims to minimize CGI crowds, addressing one of the criticisms levied at similar racing films like "Ford v. Ferrari."
Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton is one of the film’s producers, adding another layer of authenticity and expertise. Hamilton has been actively involved in the filming process, advising Kosinski on camera positions for capturing the high-speed action at various F1 events. He even participated in track days to perfect the pits’ portrayal in the movie.
Filming for "F1" continues, with the production scheduled to wrap up at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December. As the excitement builds, fans can look forward to a film that promises to deliver both edge-of-your-seat racing thrills and compelling storytelling.
Mark your calendars for June 27, 2025, when "F1" races into theaters, bringing the high-speed world of Formula One to the big screen like never before.

Wow, Brad Pitt in a F1 movie sounds so cool!! Can’t wait to see all the action scenes. Joseph Kosinski did great job in Top Gun: Maverick so this will be awesome too!!
Another movie about racing? Really? How many more do we need? It’s just cars going in circles. Not interested at all.
Did you know that Lewis Hamilton is one of the producers? That’s pretty interesting, he actually helps with the filming too!
Wow!! Thats super cool!! Hamilton knows racing better than anyone!!
I don’t get why they need Brad Pitt in this. Just another Hollywood star cashing in on something they don’t care about.
Hes a good actor, why hate on him? Maybe he loves racing too!
Yeah but still, feels like a gimmick to get more people to watch.
Oh great, another movie that’s gonna use CGI for everything. bet the cars will look fake as hell
Actually they said theyre using real F1 teams and less CGI. So it might look real.
Yeah, and with Lewis Hamilton helping, it might actually be realistic!
