New 2023 Lordstown Endurance Electric Pickup Truck Headlining Cars & Bids Auction
For those in the market for a rare and unique electric vehicle, the 2023 Lordstown Endurance battery-electric pickup truck is now listed on Cars & Bids. This particular unit comes with an intriguing backstory that includes a brief test drive by Autoblog last summer, shortly after the company declared bankruptcy. Located in Damascus, Maryland, approximately 34 miles northwest of Washington, DC, the truck has accumulated just 200 miles on its odometer, boasts a clean CarFax, and remains in pristine condition.
The vehicle’s current owner acquired it from a government fleet in Washington, DC—evident by its distinctive three-star stickers and a "How Am I Driving?" decal on the tailgate. According to the seller, the fleet retired all their units and sold them at auction. Notably, this Endurance pickup, purchased for $70,000, had the lowest mileage among the fleet.
However, potential buyers should be aware of some paperwork nuances. The vehicle is being sold with a purchase and sale contract instead of a traditional certificate of title. This means any interested party will need to consult their local DMV to ensure the truck is roadworthy.
The uncertain future of Lordstown Motors Corporation raises questions about the long-term viability of maintaining the Endurance. Some suggest that a museum, such as the Petersen Automotive Museum, might be a more fitting custodian, turning it into a gallery piece for EV startups that never quite took off. This list includes names like Bright, Coda, Detroit Electric, Electric Last Mile, the old Fisker Automotive, and Faraday Future, along with newer entrants like Aptera, Canoo, the new Fisker, and Karma.
Doug DeMuro, the mastermind behind Cars & Bids, has expressed significant enthusiasm for this auction. "This is outlandish! Lordstown Motors Corporation is an emerging EV manufacturer, and the Endurance pickup is the only Lordstown vehicle to make it into production. The Endurance’s appeal isn’t just its rarity; it’s a quad-motor EV pickup with an EPA-rated range of 174 miles, unique styling, and back-to-basics practicality. This example is nearly new with less than 200 miles, no major modifications, a clean Carfax report, and no accidents. Plus, it’s a thrilling No Reserve offer," DeMuro remarked.
As of now, bidding stands at $10,600, with the auction set to conclude on May 24th. This could be a remarkable bargain for a savvy buyer capable of navigating the challenges of keeping the Endurance operational.
