FYI: Cadillac steps into the spotlight with the electrifying 2025 Escalade IQ, aiming to redefine luxury EVs.

The New Cadillac Escalade IQ: A Luxurious Leap into the Electric Future

General Motors (GM) has made another strategic move in its quest to dominate the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ. Distinguished by its unique design and advanced features, the electric version of the iconic Escalade made its grand debut in New York this August. With the promise of a 460-mile range and an initial price tag of $129,095, the Escalade IQ sets a new standard in the luxury EV segment.

A Standalone Identity

While borrowing the prestigious Escalade name, the Escalade IQ deviates significantly from its gasoline-powered counterpart. The similarities end at the name, with Cadillac creating a distinct identity for the IQ, encompassing its own design elements, platform, interior features, and drivetrain.

Specifications and Performance

The Escalade IQ boasts impressive specs:

  • Range: 460 miles
  • Price: Starting at $129,095 (including a $1,395 destination charge)
  • Trim Levels: Sport and Luxury
  • Additional Options: Level 2 equipment and the Executive Second Row could bump the price above $159,000.

Power and Performance

Mirroring the technological advancements seen in the GMC Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV, the Escalade IQ features:

  • Dual Motors: Producing up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.
  • Acceleration: 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds.
  • Velocity Max Mode: Providing peak power and performance.
  • Normal Mode: Offering 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque.
  • One-pedal Driving: Enabled by a regenerative braking system dubbed Variable Regen on Demand.
  • Towing Capacity: Estimated at 8,000 pounds.

Battery and Charging

The Escalade IQ’s power is derived from an Ultium 24-module battery (estimated at 205 kWh):

  • Charging: Compatible with an 800-volt architecture and able to add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.
  • Home Charging: Utilizing a 240-volt outlet, it can add 37 miles per hour at up to 19.2 amps.
  • Bidirectional Charging: Capable of powering household items through GM Energy’s Ultium Home products.

Design and Dimensions

Although the Escalade IQ differs from its gas-powered sibling, it retains family aesthetics:

  • Exterior Design: Features a taller, angular shape, the signature vertical headlights and taillights, and a sloping roofline. A "crystal shield" replaces the traditional grille.
  • Dimensions: Measuring 224.3 inches in length, it sits between the standard and long-wheelbase versions of the gasoline model, with a wheelbase slightly longer by 2.1 inches.
  • Aerodynamics: Benefiting from a 15% lower drag coefficient compared to the gasoline model.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Escalade IQ offers:

  • Dashboard: A 55.0-inch-wide digital screen bank powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit platform.
  • Displays: Includes a 35.0-inch combination of a digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen, a 20.0-inch passenger screen, and an 11.0-inch center console touchscreen.
  • Seating: Standard seven-seater with options for an Executive Second-Row Package, adding luxurious rear bucket seats and advanced features.
  • Panoramic Roof: A fixed glass roof enhancing the airy feel of the cabin.
  • Audio System: Standard AKG audio with 19 speakers, upgradeable to a 36-speaker system with Level 2 trim, and 40 speakers with the Executive package.

Safety and Technology

Safety and technology are paramount, with:

  • Super Cruise: Hands-free driver-assist tech standard for three years.
  • Blind Spot Monitor: Including steering assist.
  • Advanced Parking: Automatic parking and a surround-view camera system.
  • Emergency Braking: With pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Conclusion

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, with its robust specs, luxurious features, and cutting-edge technology, is set to redefine the standards for luxury electric SUVs. As GM continues to innovate in the EV space, the Escalade IQ exemplifies the brand’s commitment to superior performance and opulent design.
