FYI: Carlex Design transforms the classic Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen into a vintage-inspired masterpiece called the G-Vintage, setting itself apart with pastel tones and retro aesthetics.
Carlex Design’s Retro Transformation of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen
There’s no scarcity of modified Mercedes-Benz G-Wagens in the automotive world, but Polish tuner Carlex Design has carved a unique niche with its latest creation—the G-Vintage. This bespoke version of the G-Class swaps aggressive, action-packed styling for a nostalgic, pastel-hued aesthetic, offering a refreshing alternative to conventional modifications.
A Nostalgic Palette and Unique Exterior
First highlighted by The Drive, the Carlex G-Vintage modernizes the G-Class with a retro twist. Rather than blending in as a background vehicle in an intense car chase, the G-Vintage stands out with its distinctive white roof and whitewall tires. The color options are far from ordinary, featuring hues like Lime Pop, Champagne Fizz, and Raspberry Punch.
The G-Vintage rides on elevated and broadened suspension, bringing back the essence of 1970s-era Mercedes passenger cars through its 20-inch wheels. Further exterior modifications include a bespoke body kit and a unique Mercedes hood ornament, compensating for Carlex’s custom logo that replaces the iconic three-pointed star in the grille.
A Luxurious and Retro Interior
Step inside, and the G-Vintage continues to evoke a bygone era. The cabin is adorned with vintage leather in various hues, purposefully designed with a distressed appearance uncommon in today’s car interiors. Adding to its eccentric charm, Carlex offers a wooden decking option for the cargo area, enhancing the vehicle’s classic appeal.
Carlex’s Wild Portfolio
Carlex is no stranger to audacious automotive projects. Their portfolio includes the AMG G 63-based G-Falcon, which boasts a massive hood engraving of a falcon, as well as a 6×6 conversion of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, an off-roader with upgrades so extreme it was never marketed in the U.S.
Future Upgrades for the G-Class
Looking forward, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class will undergo significant updates in the 2025 model year. Among these changes, an all-electric model will be introduced, and other variants will move to inline-6 powertrains. The high-performance G 63 will retain its V-8 engine but will now include an active anti-roll system, enhancing its off-road stability and on-road comfort.
Final Thoughts
Carlex Design’s G-Vintage offers a delightful blend of classic charm and modern engineering. With its unique aesthetic and luxurious interior, it’s a standout option for those looking to experience the iconic G-Class in a whole new light.
