## Chevy Blazer EV Owners Alert: A Fuel Warning on an Electric Vehicle?
It’s a question even new owners might not typically consider: Have you ever checked if your Chevy Blazer EV has enough gas? Interestingly enough, it seems the car itself is raising the concern. Alex Dykes, soon after leasing a Blazer EV, received a peculiar warning on the vehicle’s infotainment system: “Low Fuel.” Accompanying the alert was an option to navigate to the nearest gas station.
### Blazer EV Troubles
The Chevy Blazer EV didn’t have the smoothest start. During InsideEVs testing, it suffered early breakdowns, leading to a temporary stop-sale while GM corrected software issues. When it was reintroduced to the market, it came at a reduced price, and early customers were compensated for the initial problems they endured.
Dykes, the driving force behind the YouTube channel and shopping site Auto Buyers Guide, found humor in the moment. He shared the ironic alert on his company’s Facebook page, noting that the message appeared despite the battery being at a healthy 80%. He informed InsideEVs that the vehicle was active for about an hour during a comparison with a Volkswagen ID.4, and had been constantly displaying notifications, most of which were minor updates or reminders. However, the “Low Fuel” message certainly grabbed his attention.
Dykes also featured the amusing warning in a YouTube Short, which he posted last Friday.
### What Chevy Says
A Chevy spokesperson explained that the software modules used in their vehicles are often standardized. “The incident reported on Facebook is due to a bug that issues an incorrect signal. A fix for this has been developed and will be rolled out in an upcoming software update,” he clarified via email. This mishap is somewhat reminiscent of early Kia Soul EVs that displayed oil change reminders and Bolt EVs informing owners of low oil life. Thankfully, a solution is on its way.
### Should This Deter You?
Absolutely not. This minor software glitch shouldn’t dissuade potential buyers from considering the Blazer EV. In fact, the only reason Dykes opted for it is the exceptional leasing offers available. He secured an all-wheel-drive LT model for 24 months and 20,000 miles at an impressively low all-inclusive cost of $6,324. By choosing a one-pay lease—paying all fees upfront—he saved an additional $600, resulting in an effective zero-down rate of about $257 per month. That’s a fantastic deal for one of the most spacious mainstream electric SUVs available. At that price, a software bug or two seems like a trivial issue.
