Zinger 21C Sets New Production Car Record at Goodwood Festival of Speed
A New Benchmark in Hypercar Performance
American car manufacturer Zinger has rewritten the record books at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where their 21C Hybrid hypercar set a new production car record for the festival’s renowned hill climb event. On the final day of this year’s festival, the eye-catching Rattlesnake Green 21C successfully conquered the 1.16-mile course in a mere 48.83 seconds, driven by Chris Ward.
Breaking Records and Setting Standards
The previous benchmark of 49.32 seconds was held by the Rimac Nevera electric hypercar, established in 2023. While the Zinger 21C has taken the crown for production cars, the outright fastest time at Goodwood remains the 39.08-second run by the electric McMurtry Spearing Time Attack Special, piloted by ex-F1 driver Max Chilton in 2022. Rumors suggest a production version of the Spearing may be on the horizon, potentially setting new benchmarks yet again.
Advanced Technology and Limited Production
The Zinger 21C is not just a feat of speed but also a marvel of modern engineering. Zinger will be producing a very limited run of just 80 units, deploying advanced 3D printing technology. Consumers will have the choice between the standard version, which clocked the record time at Goodwood, and the 21C V Max, designed for an astonishing top speed of 253 mph. The standard version itself boasts a robust top speed of 219 mph.
Powertrain and Performance
- Engine: Twin-turbo 2.9-liter V8 with a flat-plane crank design.
- Electric Motors: Three electric motors; two driving the front wheels and one aiding the V8 in power generation.
- Battery: Two fast-charging lithium-titanate batteries.
- Total Output: 1,250 horsepower.
For those looking for even more power, Zinger is developing a 1,350 horsepower version called the 21C Blackbird.
Divergent 3D and Looking Forward
Founded by the minds behind Divergent 3D, a company known for supplying 3D-printed components to renowned hypercar makers like Bugatti, Zinger is not limiting itself to just the 21C. The company has announced plans for five more vehicles and has already revealed the Hyper GT—a more luxurious coupe model.
Conclusion
Zinger’s achievements at Goodwood not only highlight the capabilities of the 21C but also signify a bright future for the American manufacturer. As deliveries of the 21C begin, the automotive world eagerly anticipates what Zinger will unveil next.
