FYI: The second edition of Clean Culture Japan elevates the car show scene with live drifting and impressive attendance in Chiba.
Clean Culture Japan 2024 Expands on Last Year’s Inaugural Success
Clean Culture Japan saw a triumphant return after its highly acclaimed debut last year. Building on the original clean culture formula from the US, Takahashi Jun and his Hardcore Tokyo team delivered a bigger and better sequel, now featuring an exhilarating live drift demonstration.
The event took place in late summer at Chiba’s Longwood Station, contrasting with last year’s springtime setting. Despite the sweltering heat, attendance was remarkable, even doubling from the previous year. This indicates growing enthusiasm for the event, despite challenging weather conditions.

A Bigger and Better Experience
Adhering to the original US-based clean culture event formula, Clean Culture Japan 2024 added unique elements that captured the crowd’s attention, including live drifting sessions. Unfortunately, I arrived post-demonstration at around 3 pm as the temperature peaked. However, Longwood Station’s air-conditioned halls provided a pleasant retreat from the sun’s intensity.
Doubling Down on Attendance
With attendance figures doubling from the inaugural event, Chiba’s Longwood Station buzzed with excitement. The venue, known for its large, comfortable halls, was perfect for visitors looking to cool off while enjoying refreshing drinks away from the scorching heat.
The Sound-Off Showdown
The main stage was a hotspot of action, featuring a fierce sound-off competition among a Honda Civic, Nissan Skyline, and an Aston Martin. Their attempts to outdo each other with the loudest Two Step/Limiter bash created an electrifying atmosphere.

Browsing the Car Collection
While the main stage drew much attention, automotive enthusiasts, including myself, enjoyed exploring the exceptionally clean and well-modified cars on display. Vehicles from Web Options’ Wangan Base Yokohama show made a notable appearance, illuminating the vibrant car culture.
Noteworthy Highlights
Among the standout vehicles was Souki’s painstakingly crafted Y30 Gloria, a project that spanned five years. This car, among many others, highlighted the dedication and creativity of participants. The event included over 350 cars, each displayed meticulously, with showstoppers like a half-built Mazda Eunos Roadster attracting considerable attention.
Summary and Looking Forward
Clean Culture Japan 2024 exemplified the essence of car culture with an impressive assortment of vehicles, live drifting action, and competitive spirit—all set against a picturesque backdrop. It stands as a testament to the growing love for automotive events in Japan.
For enthusiasts and novices alike, Clean Culture Japan offers a unique blend of spectacular cars, engaging activities, and a thriving community atmosphere. A huge thanks to Takahashi Jun and the Hardcore Tokyo team for orchestrating an unforgettable event.
