FYI: A Maine resident has amassed an extraordinary collection of Ford Mustangs, featuring some rare and unique models, both restored and in parts.
The Mustang Enthusiast’s Dream Collection
In a small town in Maine, a man affectionately known as "The Mustang Guy" boasts an incredible assortment of Ford Mustangs. Dedicated to buying, restoring, and repairing these classic cars, his collection is a must-see for any American muscle car enthusiast. However, more than half of these automotive gems await their destined transformation, lying in a picturesque backyard that resembles a Mustang sanctuary.
Central Maine Mustangs: A Hub of Restoration and Rarity
This Mustang aficionado, Emery, operates from Central Maine Mustangs, a workshop renowned for its precision in restoring timeless Mustang classics. His restoration projects are supported by a stockpile of "donor" cars—vehicles he keeps for their treasured parts. While some may perceive these as merely rusty relics, to Emery, they are potential pieces of automotive art.
Among the fascinating projects underway is a turquoise 1966 Hertz, initially an automatic shifted to a manual, and a GT350H, part of a special series for Hertz’s rental fleet, which is on its journey back to its original form. Emery’s current tasks also involve a Mach 1, a sought-after model potentially fetching $97,000, making Central Maine Mustangs a hub of priceless automotive heritage.
The Star of the Show: The 1970 Boss 429
At the core of Emery’s collection lies an exquisite gem—a 1970 Boss 429. Drenched in Grabber Orange with a white interior, this ultra-rare machine stands as a testament to Mustang’s storied past. Its racing legacy is as remarkable as its potential revival. Formerly raced and later exchanged for a pickup, the Shelby now waits in Emery’s shed, poised for a long-awaited rebirth, possibly hindered by the pricey nature of its components. Emery’s 15-year journey in part collection reflects the dedication required to restore such a masterpiece.
For those with a passion for vintage Mustangs and restoration, Emery’s collection not only captures the spirit these cars embody but also defines the effort and passion that go into preserving automotive history.
