FYI: One Year After Preview, The Lamborghini Diablo Restomod is Now Ready for Its First Drive
Last year, Eccentrica Cars gave us a tantalizing glimpse of their vision for the Lamborghini Diablo, reimagined for the modern era. Fast-forward to today, and this stunning restomod, founded by Emanuel Colombini in San Marino, Italy, has made its official driveable debut at The Quail—a move that has car enthusiasts buzzing. With only 19 units slated for production, each priced at approximately $1,700,000, deliveries are anticipated to begin in the summer of 2025.
A Modern Classic
The heart of the Eccentrica V12 is a meticulously upgraded 5.7-liter V12 engine that churns out an impressive 550 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. This combination brings a nostalgic yet exhilarating driving experience that is becoming increasingly rare in today’s era of automated transmissions. Staying true to the original Diablo’s iconic features, this restomod even retains the classic pop-up headlights.
Inspired Aesthetics
While at first glance the Eccentrica V12 might seem like a slightly altered Diablo, a closer look reveals significant changes. The restomod takes design cues from the famed Diablo GT, evident in the front bumper and wider front wheel arches. The rear bumper design also hints at the Diablo GT’s influence, but the pièce de résistance is the bespoke engine cover. Featuring custom air intakes reminiscent of the Diablo SV, yet entirely original in design, the engine cover exemplifies the blend of old and new.
Wheels and Styling
The Eccentrica V12 sits on striking five-spoke 19-inch wheels, adding to its commanding road presence. The front bumper, the wider front wheel arches, and the rear bumper design draw inspiration from the limited-edition Lamborghini Diablo GT, but the similarities end there. An entirely custom engine cover sets this restomod apart, fusing elements from the Diablo SV with a modern twist.
Interior Excellence
Step inside the Eccentrica V12, and it’s a fusion of vintage charm and modern sophistication. The six-speed gearbox’s gear lever is a work of art, with reverse gear being button-operated for a contemporary touch. Custom switches, an exquisite steering column, and advanced infotainment systems elevate the driving experience. The seats are a beautiful nod to classic design, offering comfort and style in equal measure.
Performance and Engineering
Eccentrica’s engineering team has breathed new life into the 5.7-liter V12 engine by integrating a custom camshaft, electronic throttle bodies, and a different flywheel. This fine-tuning ensures the vehicle reaches 550 hp and 600 Nm of torque. However, it’s worth noting that while the original Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0’s 6.0-liter V12 churned out similar power and torque figures straight from the factory, Eccentrica’s choice to enhance the 5.7-liter variant adds a unique flavor to this restomod.
A Passion Project
“The Eccentrica V12 is a personal passion project, born from my lifelong admiration for the Lamborghini Diablo,” said Emanuel Colombini, Founder and President of Eccentrica Cars. “While I have immense respect for the original design, I wanted to elevate the driving experience. What you see here today is the culmination of our engineering team’s hard work to push the boundaries of technology and performance.”
