FYI: Mercedes-AMG crafted a special edition GT Black Series "Project One" exclusively for the 275 customers who pre-ordered their revolutionary plug-in hybrid hypercar, incorporating iconic design elements inspired by Formula 1 technology.
Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series "Project One" Edition: A Hypercar Masterpiece
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series "Project One" Edition stands as a unique tribute to the 275 exclusive customers who pre-ordered Mercedes’ stunning plug-in hybrid hypercar, first unveiled as a concept in 2017. This exceptional vehicle draws design inspiration from the 2019 W10 Formula 1 car, showcasing a striking two-tone color scheme highlighted with Petronas teal accents to honor the brand’s Formula 1 partner.

A Formula 1-Inspired Engineering Marvel
Originally dubbed "Project One," this hypercar features a hybrid petrol-electric powertrain directly derived from Formula 1 technology. While production delays pushed its rollout to August 2022 and prompted a name change to Mercedes-AMG ONE, the car remains a technological marvel, perfectly balancing high performance and advanced engineering.

Despite a hefty $2.72 million price tag, the car’s allure far exceeded the intended 275-unit production run. However, Mercedes maintained the production cap to ensure exclusivity. As a token of appreciation for their patience, each pre-order customer received a special Black Series variant of the Project One, making each unit a collector’s item.
Exquisite Design and Limited Exclusivity
Among the highly select batch, only 25 units were delivered to North America, including a notable example listed by Bring A Trailer. This specific Black Series Project One, a Canadian-market unit, clocks in at just 1,200 miles and showcases an exquisite Cirrus Silver and Obsidian Black exterior. The design is enhanced with star patterns and Petronas Turquoise accents, complemented by an interior dressed in black Dinamica and Exclusive Nappa leather.

Performance and Technical Excellence
Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a formidable 720-horsepower, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, seamlessly paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. To enhance driving dynamics, this Black Series model features a reworked front with larger intercooler openings, an adjustable carbon-fiber front splitter, and dual-stage rear wing. Additional carbon-fiber elements adorn the hood, roof, rear liftgate, and side skirts.
Luxurious Features and State-of-the-Art Technology
The interior of the Black Series Project One does not compromise on luxury or technology. The car is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes for superior stopping power, a Burmester surround-sound system for an exceptional audio experience, and AMG Black Series forged wheels with 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. To ensure comfort, the seats are heated AMG performance models, providing a combination of luxury and practicality.
