FYI: Subaru has revealed the ultra-exclusive WRX STI S210 prototype at Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, igniting excitement among performance car enthusiasts with its powerful upgrades, although an American release remains unconfirmed.
Subaru has recently unveiled the WRX STI S210 prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, treating auto aficionados to a glimpse of a vehicle finely tuned for performance. Limited to just 500 units, each model promises a remarkable driving experience drawing from technologies cultivated in motorsport. However, U.S. fans may have to keep their fingers crossed as there’s no confirmation on its American release yet.
A Race-Bred Performance Machine
The WRX STI S210 prototype builds on Subaru’s racing pedigree, incorporating insights from the grueling Nürburgring 24-hour race. At the heart of this performance beast is an upgraded FA24 engine borrowed from the WRX S4, fitted with enhancements like an improved air cleaner and a specially designed intake duct. A purpose-built exhaust system, featuring a bullet-shaped chamber, facilitates smoother airflow, reducing resistance significantly and aiming for 300 horsepower via a specially tuned ECU. This powerhouse exhibits smooth and assured acceleration, producing up to 296 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
Automatic Transmission Focus
To the surprise of many purists, the new Subaru Performance Transmission is geared towards an automatic driving experience. Enthusiasts might notice the absence of a traditional manual transmission, but the precision and excitement offered by the retuned ECU make it a thrilling ride nonetheless.
Groundbreaking Features
Subaru has gone the extra mile with the S210’s suspension, equipping it with Michelin 255/35R19 tires and bespoke STI wheels. Advanced electronic dampers and coil springs enhance its grip, while the innovative rear stabilizer bush ensures superior balance. Brembo brakes, coupled with specially crafted brake pads and drilled rotors, provide top-notch braking performance. Weighing in at just 3,593 pounds, the STI S210 guarantees both agility and power.
Inside, driver engagement is amplified with Recaro 8-way power seats featuring a carbon backrest, surrounded by an interior accented in sporty red for a dynamic environment. Subaru’s dedication to safety is evident with enhanced seatbelt systems.
Pricing and Availability
Subaru’s announcement that only 500 units will be produced adds an exclusive allure to the WRX STI S210. While the exact pricing remains under wraps, expectations suggest it could surpass the $64,000 price tag of its predecessor, the S209. As enthusiasts eagerly await further updates this spring, hopes remain high for a potential U.S. release.
