FYI: Cadillac’s awaited electric Escalade IQ debut will be marked by an exclusive auction of its first production model, aiming to benefit children’s education.
Cadillac Introduces Electric Escalade IQ with Exclusive Auction for Charity
Cadillac enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the all-electric Escalade IQ, set to make its debut in 2025. However, securing the first production models, specifically those with VINs ending in 001, will require more than a simple reservation. Cadillac announced on Thursday that these initial production models will be auctioned off for charity from October 10-13 in Scottsdale, overseen by the renowned Barrett-Jackson auction house. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Detroit Children’s Foundation, an organization committed to enhancing children’s educational opportunities.
Enhanced Range and Cutting-Edge Technology
In a recent update, Cadillac revealed that the estimated driving range of the Escalade IQ has been extended by an additional 10 miles, bringing the total to 460 miles. While official EPA estimates are yet to be confirmed, this enhancement is a promising sign for future owners.
The Escalade IQ boasts impressive specifications, built upon General Motors’ advanced Ultium platform and battery technology. The vehicle features a substantial battery capacity of over 200 kWh, estimated around 205 kWh, complemented by DC fast charging capabilities of up to 350 kW. A dual motor all-wheel drive system comes standard, delivering an impressive power output of 680 horsepower in normal mode and a staggering 750 horsepower in Velocity Max mode. Additionally, the IQ will incorporate the Cadillac Arrival, a version inspired by the GMC Hummer EV’s Crabwalk technology.
Luxurious Design and Premium Pricing
Priced starting at $129,095, including a $1,395 destination charge, the 2025 Escalade IQ is positioned as a premium offering in the electric SUV market. With such collectibility and the charitable aspect, VIN 001 is expected to attract significant bids above its base price, especially given that buyers at charity auctions may also benefit from tax credits.
Production and Availability
Cadillac initially planned to begin deliveries of the Escalade IQ this summer. However, these have been delayed until late 2024. Additionally, the company has plans to introduce a long-wheelbase variant, the Escalade IQL, which is currently in the testing phase. No official timeline for its release has been provided yet.
Production of the Escalade IQ will take place at General Motors’ Factory Zero plant in Detroit. This facility is also responsible for manufacturing other electric vehicles, including the Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV.
Conclusion
Cadillac’s move to auction the first production models of the Escalade IQ not only elevates the anticipation surrounding the vehicle but also supports a noble cause. With cutting-edge technology, enhanced range, and luxurious design, the Escalade IQ is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
