FYI: A unique 1940s Chevrolet truck turned hot rod is now available, showcasing custom craftsmanship and high-performance components.
If you’ve ever imagined seeing a classic 1940s Chevrolet transformed into a breathtaking hot rod, now’s your chance. Recently, Francis Bolduc, the proud owner of Greybeard’s Cycle Barn in Mims, Florida, discovered this unique vehicle during one of his internet explorations. True to the Floridian spirit of adventure, he seized the opportunity to bring this rare beauty home. Classic Chevy trucks are not uncommon, but this one stands out from the pack.
This Is Not Your Typical Truck
Hot Rod Heaven has spotlighted this marvel—a fierce hot rod built from the steel body of a 1940s Chevrolet pickup. A 1940s Cadillac grill and a handcrafted truck bed add a unique flair. However, the heart of this hot rod lies under the hood: a 357 full roller motor paired with a tilt nose hood.
Key Engine Highlights:
- Blueprint Balanced Aluminum Head
- Superior Quality Headers
- Flowmaster FX Muffler
- Turbo 350 Transmission
- 35" Nitto Grappler Tires
This meticulously crafted vehicle doesn’t stop impressing there. Its suspension system is another feature that will wow enthusiasts.
The Suspension Setup Is Also Impressive
The original owner customized much of the suspension, equipping the truck with custom upper and lower control arms and Bilstein dual-rate spring coilovers designed explicitly for trucks.
Other Noteworthy Features:
- Power Steering Rack
- Power Brakes
- Four-Wheel Power Disc Brakes with drilled/slotted rotors
A Closer Look At The Unique Build
This Florida-based truck also sports power steering—a rare and invaluable addition for a vintage pickup. The rear end is an eye-catching spectacle with additional Bilstein shocks, Jeep control arms, and a robust 1.75 cage. Additionally, a rear-mounted radiator and two-speed fan enhance cooling, while suicide doors add an extra touch of rebellious style.
Seeing a 1940s truck restored to such a high standard with numerous custom components is indeed a rarity.
A Unique Chevrolet Hot Rod
Priced at $50,000, this Chevrolet truck is a remarkable find by Bolduc. Comparatively, Bring A Trailer has auctioned four 1940 Chevrolet trucks over the past four years:
- 350-powered Chevrolet Pickup: Sold for $18,000 earlier this year
- Master Stakebed Truck: Sold for $41,000 in 2022
- Three-Speed Pickup: Sold for $26,750
- Another Pickup: Sold for $26,250 in 2021
While these classic models were well maintained and fully restored, none compare to this hot rod’s distinctive customization and modern enhancements.
Restoring classic trucks is an enduring pastime, but finding one with such a unique custom build is extraordinary. This exceptional creation is a testament to Florida’s penchant for pushing automotive boundaries and achieving remarkable results.
