## Ariel Motor Company Unveils All-Electric E-Nomad Concept
Ariel Motor Company, a prominent UK-based manufacturer known for its ultra-lightweight vehicles, has just unveiled its latest innovation: the E-Nomad. This all-electric rendition of their beloved go-anywhere sports car is an exciting leap forward in automotive technology.
### The Ultra-Light and Capable Ariel E-Nomad
Weighing in at just 1,975 pounds, the Ariel E-Nomad mirrors the blistering acceleration of its gasoline-powered predecessor. This electric marvel rockets from 0 to 60 MPH in a mere 3.4 seconds, making it an adrenaline junkie’s dream, both on and off the road.
The vehicle’s chassis is constructed from a recyclable natural fiber bio-composite, contributing to its lightweight design and aerodynamic efficiency. Boasting an impressive range of up to 150 miles and powered by a robust 277-horsepower motor, the E-Nomad is built to tackle diverse terrains with ease.
### Innovative Battery and Powertrain
Rockfort Engineering has outfitted the E-Nomad with a purpose-designed 450-volt battery pack. The advanced Pegasus V3 modules, featuring high-energy lithium-ion pouch cells, give the vehicle best-in-class energy density. This setup focuses on maximizing both performance and range while keeping weight to a minimum. The E-Nomad utilizes 12 Pegasus V3 modules, offering a total capacity of 41kW and a power output of 210kW.
### Remarkable Off-Road Capabilities
The E-Nomad is engineered for exceptional off-road performance. It employs a single-speed gearbox that delivers 361 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels, ensuring it can handle off-road terrains effortlessly. The vehicle is also equipped with a limited-slip differential, parking lock, and water-cooled drive unit that uses a front-mounted split-circuit radiator.
### Advanced and Eco-Friendly Design
Ariel has collaborated with Bamd Composites to craft the E-Nomad’s sleek bodywork from Nordic flax fiber. This material is chosen for its exceptional mechanical and structural properties, providing both strength and stiffness while helping to capture carbon.
The E-Nomad features driver-selectable on-road and off-road modes, along with regenerative braking for one-pedal driving. Two drive modes – ECO and Sport – allow drivers to balance power and range according to their needs. ECO mode enhances efficiency and extends range, while Sport mode ramps up performance for a more thrilling experience.
### The Future is Bright and Clean for Ariel
Simon Saunders, Ariel’s director, expressed the company’s forward-looking vision: “While the E-Nomad is a concept car, it signals our intention to bring the vehicle to production and is just a small glimpse of what’s to come for Ariel. We’re excited to receive customer feedback on this concept car, with the potential to add the E-Nomad alongside its ICE Nomad 2 sibling after it has gone through our usual rigorous testing regime.”
The E-Nomad concept will make its debut at the Cenex Expo 2024 in September. Although it won’t be available for purchase immediately, Ariel plans to gauge consumer response before making further decisions regarding its production.
