Ineos Grenadier Range Expansion Unveils V8, 3-Row Seating, and Pick-Up Models
The Ineos Grenadier lineup is set to possibly expand, featuring models with a potent V8 engine, three-row seating, and a compact pick-up design. These prototypes were showcased at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, suggesting an intriguing evolution for the Grenadier family.
Unveiling at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024
Ineos highlighted the upcoming Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster pick-up truck variants during the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. These vehicles, including the specialized versions with portal axles crafted by Germany’s LeTech, promise a significant boost in off-road capability. Portal axles enhance ground clearance from 9.8 inches to an impressive 20.2 inches and increase wading depth from 9.9 inches to 41.3 inches. An added benefit is compatibility with off-road tires, ensuring robustness for rugged terrains.
Although Ineos has not confirmed if these axles will be available as a factory option, a vehicle modified with them has already been deployed to the fire department in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany.
ShortMaster: A New Quartermaster Pickup Variant
One of the standout displays at Goodwood was the ShortMaster, a shorter-bed variant of the Quartermaster pick-up truck. Built on the Grenadier’s 115-inch wheelbase, which is 12 inches shorter than the standard model, the ShortMaster features repositioned rear seats to maximize the cargo bed space. This compact pick-up truck promises to offer versatility without compromising on cargo-carrying capabilities.
Grenadier Safari: A Spacious New Prototype
Another exciting prototype is the eight-seater Safari, developed by Botswana-based Ineos Kavango. With three tiered seating rows, this variant targets the safari and tour industries, providing ample space for passengers and optimal viewing experiences – ideal for wildlife tours and other commercial uses.
V8 Grenadier: Powerhouse Prototype
The collaboration between Ineos and Magna has resulted in the V8 Grenadier prototype. This model houses a General Motors-sourced 6.2-liter V8 engine, delivering a remarkable 425 horsepower and 838 pound-feet of torque. This is a notable upgrade from the currently used BMW 3.0-liter turbo-six engine, which offers 282 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque in the U.S. market. Modifications for this powerful engine included updated engine mounts, cooling systems, exhaust, transmission bearings, heat shields, and center console.
Rally-Ready Grenadier
Moreover, Buzz Special Vehicles has transformed the Grenadier into an FIA-certified rally car. Equipped with an enhanced BMW turbo six-cylinder engine, rally-specific suspension, upgraded brakes, and a stripped interior fortified with a roll cage, this variant will aim to compete in the 2025 World Rally Raid Championship.
Future Models and Developments
Ineos is pushing forward with the development of new models, including the Fusilier SUV, rumored to feature an all-electric, extended-range powertrain. Although the release date is yet to be determined, plans are in place for two additional SUVs beyond the Grenadier and Fusilier. Reports also suggest the establishment of a U.S. factory to further support these ambitious expansions.
Conclusion
The Ineos Grenadier range is on the cusp of exciting diversification, with prototypes indicating a future rich in variety and capability. From powerful V8 engines and three-row seating to specialized safari vehicles and rally cars, Ineos is setting the stage for more versatile and robust off-road options. As the brand gears up for these new releases, including potential all-electric models, enthusiasts and consumers alike have much to look forward to. Wow, this is REALLY exciting!!! The V8 engine with 425 horsepower? That’s insane. Props to Ineos for such ambitious expansion!
Totally agree! Can’t wait to see these models on the road.
Same here! I’m particularly excited about the rally-ready Grenadier.
Honestly, i thinks this whole expansion thing is a bit over the top. Do we really need more gas-guzzling SUVs? What about the environment!
This is what innovation looks like! The portal axles sound like such a game-changer for off-road enthusiasts. Can’t wait to see the specs in real life.
A V8 engine? Really, whos gonna pay extra for a gas-guzzler when evs are taking over? Sounds like a waste if you ask me.
Haha, V8 Grenadier—Because we all need a truck that can pull Jupiter out of orbit! Seriously though, those specs are wild.
