FYI: The Kalmar 9X9, based on the Porsche 993 chassis, has been seen at Nürburgring ahead of mid-2025 deliveries. Only nine will be built, including variations like the Standard, Sport, and Leichtbau.
Kalmar’s Flagship 9X9 at Nürburgring
The Kalmar 9X9 supercar, recently showcased at the 2024 Monterey Car Week, has been spotted putting in test laps at the iconic Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. This marks an exciting step for Danish company Kalmar Automotive as they gear up for the mid-2025 delivery of the limited-run vehicle, with only nine units planned.
Porsche Heritage with a New Twist
Kalmar Automotive, renowned for its exceptional Porsche 911 restorations, especially of the 993 generation, has unveiled the 9X9 as its flagship. This innovative vehicle combines the classic 993 chassis with design cues inspired by the legendary Porsche 959.
Exclusive Versions and Specifications
To cater to a range of driving preferences, the Kalmar 9X9 will be produced in three unique variants:
-
Standard: The most luxurious and powerful model, this version features a 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six engine delivering a staggering 930 horsepower. It includes a dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, offering a smooth grand touring experience.
-
Sport: Crafted for the adrenaline junkie, this variant sports a turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine generating 650 horsepower. A seven-speed manual transmission and lighter chassis cater to track enthusiasts, replacing the dual-clutch for a purer driving experience.
- Leichtbau: Meaning "light construction" in German, this model is stripped to the essentials for purists. It features a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine with 530 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and a standard six-speed manual, omitting airbags to minimize weight.
Performance Prowess
Despite being the heaviest, the Standard version accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mere two seconds, showcasing Kalmar’s engineering prowess. The Sport and Leichtbau models achieve the same in 3.7 and 3.5 seconds, respectively. Regardless of the variant, top speed is impressively capped at 311 mph.
Meticulous Craftsmanship
The 9X9 begins its life as a 993-generation Porsche 911 before undergoing a comprehensive transformation. It’s equipped with a state-of-the-art roll cage, bespoke suspension engineered by Danici Engineering, and custom brakes by CarboBrake, sporting titanium calipers fabricated using 3D printing technology.
Crafting Exclusivity with Precision
Building only nine 9X9s ensures each car remains a bespoke work of art, curated meticulously to match individual customer specifications. Kalmar builds only a few cars annually, making each a unique manifestation of high-performance engineering fused with luxury.
Representation in the U.S.
