Lucid Motors Updates 2025 Air Lineup with Impressive Range Enhancements
Lucid Motors has announced a series of modifications to its 2025 Air electric vehicle (EV) lineup, influenced by updates from both the company and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These changes have notably impacted the estimated ranges of the various models, promising enhanced performance and efficiency for the Californian EV manufacturer’s fleet.
Significant Changes in Range and Performance
Lucid Motors recently introduced the 1,234-horsepower Sapphire variant, equipped with a heat pump. The same feature was added to the Air Grand Touring in 2024. For the 2025 model year, the company will standardize the heat pump across all remaining trims, including the Touring and Pure models. This enhancement is particularly significant in the entry-level Air Pure.
Despite having a smaller 84-kWh battery, which has undergone more stringent EPA tests, the 2025 Air Pure can now travel 420 miles on a single charge. This is a mile more than its 2024 predecessor. The efficiency has improved to five miles per kilowatt-hour from 4.76 miles/kWh in 2024’s version, which had an impressive 146 MPGe rating.
Other Model Adjustments
However, the impacts of the heat pump and tougher EPA regulations vary across different models. The Air Touring sees a slight decrease in range, dropping from 411 miles to 406 miles. Similarly, the Grand Touring’s range has reduced from 516 miles to 512 miles. Initially, Lucid Motors had expected consistent performance indicators following the introduction of the 2024 Grand Touring upgrades. More recent tests likely led to these minor adjustments. It’s also interesting that Lucid first hinted at stricter EPA regulations back in April, around the time of showcasing the full 2024 Air lineup in California.
As of now, the U.S. Department of Energy’s fuel economy comparison site hasn’t yet updated the 2025 Air’s range details. Note that all official range figures are based on 19-inch wheels, while the Sapphire variant will exclusively feature 20-inch wheels.
Updated Pricing Structure
The updated pricing for the 2025 Air lineup, inclusive of a $1,500 delivery charge and a $75 documentation fee, is as follows:
- Pure: $71,475 (unchanged)
- Touring: $80,475 (an increase of $1,000)
- Grand Touring: $112,475 (an increase of $1,000)
- Sapphire: $250,575 (unchanged)
Advanced Features Across the Lineup
The 2025 Air models come standard with Lucid’s DreamDrive advanced driver assistance system. This package includes a surround-view camera system and a Live Blind Sport Display feature, enhancing safety and convenience. Furthermore, the infotainment system has been upgraded, now boasting three times the processing power and twice the memory for a significantly more responsive user experience.
Grand Touring models now include the SurrealSound Pro audio as a standard feature, previously available as a $4,000 option. This system, upgraded in April, offers improved electric motor design, enhanced battery cell chemistry, and better thermal properties, ensuring optimal performance during extended drives. Charging efficiency has also been improved, allowing for up to 30% faster charging times.
Conclusion
Lucid Motors continues to innovate and refine its EV offerings, addressing both performance and efficiency. With these recent updates, the 2025 Air lineup showcases the brand’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology and remarkable driving experiences.
