FYI: Lynx Motors is set to revive the legendary Ford GT with a new, limited-edition road version, combining race car heritage with modern engineering.
Texas-based Lynx Motors has announced an exciting new venture in the automotive world. In collaboration with Swiss team Matech, known for its FIA GT1 racing prowess, Lynx Motors is set to transform the Ford GT Supercar into a unique road-oriented edition named the Lynx GT1. This limited-edition car will see only 28 examples produced, making it a rare collectible for car enthusiasts.
A Legendary Heritage with a Modern Twist
First appearing in the racing circuits in 2010, the Matech team’s version of the Ford GT made waves in the FIA GT1 World Championship against competitors like the Audi R8, Lamborghini Murciélago, and Nissan GT-R. Although the series didn’t etch significant victories into racing history, the Lynx GT1 promises an impressive street-friendly experience.
Jeff Jennings of Lynx Motors shared that each model is based on the original Ford GT chassis that Matech once acquired for its race cars. These specific chassis wouldn’t have been part of the original GT production run, estimated at approximately 4,038 units. The revamped version is powered by a robust 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine, ramping up from 550 horsepower to over an astounding 1,200 horsepower. For those seeking even more thrill, Lynx Motors offers a choice of three race-derived twin-turbo 7.0-liter V-8 engines, which boast a remarkable 1,400-1,500 horsepower.
An Exclusive and Tailored Experience
Lynx Motors is offering this high-octane machine starting at $1.2 million, with customization options pushing the price up to $1.7 million. Customers can anticipate personalized elements, including choices of seats from Recaro, Sparco, and Manhey Racing, as well as adjustable harness configurations. Consumers have the liberty to select various gauges, trims, and interior colors to suit their tastes, ensuring that each of the 28 vehicles produced is unique.
Signature Design and Features
The design of the Lynx GT1 reflects its racing roots, highlighted by an expanded carbon fiber bodywork and refined aerodynamic features inspired by Matech’s race cars. While images of the Lynx Motors Ford GT1 showcase a breathtaking aesthetic, the versions available for sale already embody a race car’s spirit. Interior renderings reveal an analog gauge setup, a centrally mounted shifter, and an Apple CarPlay integrated dash, catering to modern driving conveniences while respecting its heritage.
Availability and Opportunity
Lynx Motors plans two distinct production runs for the GT1, each meticulously constructed over an eight-month period, allowing aficionados to customize their vehicle to personal specifications. This venture promises not just to deliver breathtaking performance, but also to honor the enduring legacy of the Ford GT lineage – a feat of engineering that harmonizes racing pedigree with everyday usability.
