FYI: Brooks from DragTimes took the world’s fastest electric production car, the Rimac Nevera, to an airstrip in Croatia to put its mind-blowing specs to the test.
Brooks from DragTimes recently had the thrilling experience of driving the Rimac Nevera, hailed as the fastest production electric car in the world. The breathtaking test took place at the Auto Sport Audria airstrip in Croatia, and the results were nothing short of spectacular.
A Beast of an Electric Car
The Rimac Nevera comes equipped with a massive 120 kWh battery pack and four independent motors that together generate a whopping 1,914 hp and 1,725 lb-ft of torque. This incredible power enables the Nevera to clock a 0-60 mph time of just 1.74 seconds and reach a top speed of 258 mph. The hypercar has set multiple records, including an impressive EV Lap record at Nürburgring.
Exclusivity Comes at a Price
This technological marvel isn’t available to the masses. Rimac is limiting production to only 150 units with prices starting north of $2,000,000. For most car enthusiasts, owning a Nevera will remain a distant dream.
An Unfair Fight: Rimac Nevera vs. Ferrari SF90
In the featured race, the Nevera went head-to-head with a Ferrari SF90—known for its 986 hp courtesy of three electric motors. Normally, the SF90’s specs are quite impressive. However, it didn’t stand a chance against the Nevera. As soon as Brooks hit the accelerator, the Nevera rocketed ahead, which led him to exclaim, “Oh shit, this thing’s nuts! Holy crap!”
In a re-match, the Ferrari SF90 was given a substantial head start to make the race more equitable. Perhaps it was just an opportunity to catch some front footage of the Nevera in action. Regardless, the Rimac effortlessly overtook the Ferrari, showcasing its superior acceleration.
Performance Beyond Numbers
Besides the race against the Ferrari, the Rimac Nevera faced off against other contenders including a Lamborghini, though these races weren’t captured on video. According to Brooks, “This car ran in the 8’s on the quarter mile, spinning at only 50% state of charge.” He went on to highlight that when set to track mode, the Rimac Nevera exhibits unparalleled performance, delivering violent acceleration, and exceptional handling and braking capabilities.
Dream Cars for the Ultra-Wealthy
If you find yourself wondering what you would invest in with an abundance of money, the Rimac Nevera surely offers a glimpse into a realm of extreme electric performance that few can even dream of.
