Rivian’s Latest Software Update Brings Exciting New Features
Rivian has introduced a significant software update this week, offering a variety of enhancements designed to improve the driving and ownership experience. From tri-zone climate control to entertaining drive mode animations, here’s what Rivian owners can look forward to with this update.
### Gear Guard Live Cam
Rivian’s Gear Guard, a comprehensive camera-based security system, has been amped up with live streaming capabilities. Comparable to Tesla’s Sentry Mode, Gear Guard continuously monitors the surroundings of the vehicle and records activity during suspicious events. Now, Rivian owners can access a live feed directly from their mobile app. This feature allows users to check on their vehicle in real-time, whether it’s parked in a questionable area or you want to see if a delivery is at your doorstep. According to Rivian, this live feed capability has been one of the most requested features from their customers.
### Enhanced Drive Mode Animations
Rivian’s vehicles already come with visually appealing graphics that display the current drive mode, enhancing the overall user experience. For example, switching to snow mode transforms the center display to show the vehicle navigating a snowy road, while selecting sport mode changes the scene to a racetrack. The latest update takes this a step further by adding new animations that explain the effects of different settings. Adjusting the ride height now triggers an animation that visually represents the vehicle’s new ground clearance and overall height. Similar educational animations have been included for regenerative braking, ride comfort, and stability control settings.
### Dynamic Headlamp Leveling
The second-generation R1S SUV and R1T truck now benefit from advanced adaptive driving beam technology. Previously able to dim parts of the beam when detecting an oncoming vehicle, these headlights now possess dynamic leveling capabilities. This new feature maintains a consistent light diffusion from the headlights, regardless of road conditions, including bumpy terrain or sudden acceleration and deceleration. This results in a stable beam that enhances nocturnal driving safety by keeping the road ahead clearly lit.
### Tri-Zone Climate Control
One of the more practical additions is the tri-zone climate control system. Previously, only the driver and front passenger had control over their individual temperature preferences. Now, rear passengers can also set their own temperature levels. This feature not only extends comfort to all occupants but also allows those in the back rows to adjust their climate settings using a dedicated touchscreen.
### Conclusion
Rivian’s commitment to constantly improving the ownership experience is evident in this latest update. From practical features like tri-zone climate control to sophisticated enhancements such as dynamic headlamp leveling and entertaining drive mode animations, this update is set to make a real impact.

Wow! this update sound so good. I like the idea of having diff animations for drive modes. makes it fun to drive I guess.
Why all this nonsense? nobody need fancy headlamp or extra climate control. Just stick to making good cars.
Wow so this live cam thing is like spying on your own car? Lol I’d end up watching my car more than TV!
It’s cool that rear passengers can now set their own temperature. My kids always complain about being too hot or cold. This will help for sure.
Oh great, more animations. Because we all needed more reasons to stare at screens instead of the road. Genius.
