FYI: The latest generation of the Audi Q5 is set to debut soon, boasting a redesigned platform and continued production in Mexico for the U.S. market.
## A New Era for Audi Q5 Approaches
Audi enthusiasts and automotive fans alike are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the all-new Audi Q5. Slated for release shortly, this redesigned luxury crossover has been making rounds in camouflaged prototypes, offering glimpses of its updated exterior and performance capabilities.
### Q5 Sportback Follows Suit
The latest prototype sightings reveal a coupe-like Sportback variant of the Q5, likely to follow the regular model by approximately six months to a year. The regular Q5 is anticipated to hit U.S. showrooms by next spring or early summer, released as a 2026 model. The Q5 Sportback, on the other hand, should make its debut towards the end of next year, also as a 2026 model.
### Platform and Mechanicals
The new Q5 rides on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), already showcased in the redesigned A5 hatchback, which replaced the A4. Interestingly, despite the phasing out of the A4 nameplate, it is expected to return as an E-Tron electric sedan, aligning with Audi’s strategy of reserving even numbers for their EV lineup and odd numbers for internal combustion engine models.
### Powertrains and Performance
Under the hood, the Q5 offers a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine, while the sportier SQ5 variant features a robust 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine delivering 362 horsepower. Both models will likely utilize a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with standard all-wheel drive, following the precedent set by the current generation Q5.
### Interior and Technology
Inside, the Q5’s interior design mirrors that of the new A5, showcasing a modern and driver-focused layout. Expect a curved panel steering the driver’s attention, integrating an 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment system running on an Android-based platform.
### Production Continues in Mexico
Audi remains committed to producing the Q5 for the North American market at its established plant in Mexico. This continuity ensures a seamless transition to the new generation while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.
