Volkswagen’s New 2025 Tiguan: Sleek Design and Enhanced Performance
Volkswagen is gearing up to introduce the much-anticipated 2025 Tiguan to U.S. markets this summer. Priced from $30,920, inclusive of a $1,425 destination fee, the newest version of this compact crossover is set to entice buyers with its upscale features and advanced engineering. This price reflects a modest increase of $615 over the previous model.
Improved Power and Efficiency
The 2025 Tiguan heralds a new era in Volkswagen’s design, made evident by its introduction at the 2024 Los Angeles auto show. Sporting a lighter chassis and a more potent engine, Volkswagen has managed to enhance both the driving experience and fuel efficiency. The Tiguan will house a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine under the hood, delivering an increased output of 201 hp compared to its predecessor’s 184 hp, marking a 17 hp advancement.
In spite of dropping the third-row seating option, the updated Tiguan still accommodates significant advancements in capability. The new engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, delivering power to the front wheels by default, and offers an option for all-wheel drive. This configuration allows for a towing capacity of up to 1,800 pounds when equipped with all-wheel drive. Notably, the incorporation of aluminum suspension components and high-strength steel contributes to a weight reduction of around 170 pounds compared to the outgoing model, further improving performance and efficiency.
Redesigned Interior and Cutting-Edge Technology
Inside, the Tiguan boasts a refined interior with quality materials and numerous technological upgrades. Highlights include the availability of American walnut wood trimmings, quilted leather seating, and an advanced seat cooling and heating system complete with a massage function. The cabin is equipped with a standard 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment display, which can be amped up to a 15.0-inch screen.
Volkswagen’s latest mood-setting technology—Atmospheres—uses a rotary dial to modify cabin lighting and sound settings, enhancing the driving and passenger experience. A head-up display is also an option for high-tech enthusiasts.
Engineering Evolution
The vehicle is constructed on an updated MQB platform, now dubbed MQB Evo, which brings improved dynamics and stability. Although the initial release does not feature the globally available plug-in hybrid option, Volkswagen hints at the possibility of introducing a hybrid powertrain in the future, aligning with growing consumer demand for electrified vehicles.
Conclusion
As Volkswagen prepares for the U.S. debut of the 2025 Tiguan, the expectations are set high for this sleek and sophisticated crossover. It promises a blend of elegant styling, robust performance enhancements, and rich technological features that are certain to appeal to a broad array of drivers. Production is slated to commence at the Volkswagen plant in Mexico, ensuring the Tiguan meets the market’s demands by summer.
