Tesla Model Y Now Available in Quicksilver Across All Trims in the US and Canada
Tesla has made an exciting update for its Model Y lineup in the United States and Canada. All trims of the popular electric crossover now feature the much-coveted Quicksilver paint option. Recognized as one of Tesla’s most visually appealing finishes, Quicksilver’s availability across all trims will likely be welcomed by many electric vehicle enthusiasts.
Expanded Availability for Quicksilver
Previously limited to the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Performance versions, Quicksilver is now available for the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) trim as well. This change expands the aesthetic options for customers preferring the RWD Model Y, allowing them to enjoy the high-end look of the Quicksilver finish.

The Journey of Quicksilver
Unveiled in October 2022 along with Midnight Cherry Red, Quicksilver initially graced Model Y units produced at Gigafactory Berlin. Tesla highlighted that the advanced paint shop at Giga Berlin could apply up to 13 layers of paint, giving the finish a dynamic look that changes with viewing angles. This multi-layer approach enabled Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red to stand out as premium paint options.
Initially, the premium characteristics of Quicksilver came at a premium price of €3,000. In comparison, Tesla’s other vibrant option, Red Multi-Coat, was offered for €2,000. However, over time, the price of Quicksilver has been adjusted downward. In the US, this sought-after paint option is now priced at $2,000, while in Canada, it is available for CA$2,600.

The Appeal of Tesla’s Silver Paint Options
Tesla’s silver paint options have historically been very well received, with many EV enthusiasts showing disappointment when the first-generation Model 3’s Silver Metallic color was discontinued. Quicksilver now serves as a worthy successor to this beloved hue. It’s expected that the availability of this premium paint option will drive significant interest and orders for both Model 3 and Model Y in the coming quarters.
