FYI: Tesla plans to honor its California roots by building a striking Cybertruck-inspired bear sculpture outside its Global Engineering Headquarters in Palo Alto.
Tesla to Create Cybertruck-Inspired Bear Sculpture at Palo Alto Headquarters
Tesla is set to pay homage to its longtime home of California with an impressive Cybertruck-inspired bear statue outside its Global Engineering Headquarters in Palo Alto. This tribute reflects Tesla’s deep connection with the state it called home since its inception.
Founded in California in 2003, Tesla remained headquartered there until 2021, when CEO Elon Musk shifted the base to Texas. Despite the move, Tesla continues significant operations in California, such as the Fremont Factory, which manufactures Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X, along with the Palo Alto Global Engineering Headquarters.
The Bold Sculpture Plans Revealed
Recently, Tesla applied to construct a unique sculpture at its 3000 Hanover Street location in Palo Alto, intending to craft a unique blend of Tesla’s futuristic design and California’s iconic symbol, the Grizzly Bear. Recognized first by Palo Alto Online and detailed further by Teslarati, the application includes exciting details and preliminary images.
According to Tesla, the proposed design was an internal, collaborative creation, marrying Tesla’s avant-garde style with the strength and resilience symbolized by the California Grizzly bear. The sculpture, crafted from aged metal and smooth concrete, will be accentuated by RGBW LED lights in red, green, blue, and white, adding an extra layer of visual appeal.
What the Sculpture Represents
Tesla’s filing states:
"Tesla is proposing installing a new sculpture at 3000 Hanover, along the Page Mill and Hanover intersection. The proposed sculpture design was developed in-house and is a product of multi-disciplinary collaboration within Tesla. The concept is a stylized, low-poly California Grizzly bear meant to combine Tesla’s design language with California’s Grizzly bear, and highlight the common message of strength and unyielding resistance."
The incorporation of Cybertruck elements in the sculpture pays tribute to Tesla’s innovative engineering and design ethos, symbolically linking the company’s past and future.
Visualization and Impact
Included in the filing are conceptual images showing the bear sculpture alongside Tesla vehicles, giving a vivid impression of the finished project. Below is an artist’s rendering of the completed sculpture:
