FYI: The Power Lines at Tesla’s Supercharger, Diner, and Drive-In Theater in LA Have Been Removed, Paving the Way for a Second Movie Screen
Tesla’s innovative Supercharger site, which combines a 50s-style diner and drive-in theater, is making significant progress in Los Angeles. Recently, the power lines hindering the construction of the second movie screen were successfully taken down, marking a pivotal development for the project.
Last week saw the disconnection of the first power line, and now, according to drone footage shared by the 247Tesla YouTube channel, the remaining power line and its connections have been removed. This milestone now allows for the frame of the second movie screen to be erected.
At the site, materials for the second screen are readily available, and preparations are underway to add another exterior layer to the diner. Simultaneously, interior work continues with significant progress. The parking lot grading is almost finished, indicating that the entire site is nearing completion.
When completed, the new frame should resemble the one installed a few months ago. While it may take some time to set up the actual screen, if Tesla adheres to traditional drive-in theater conventions, the screen could feature a high-powered projector and be made of a coated vinyl material for optimal viewing.
The project, a vision of Elon Musk first announced in 2018, has been under construction since September. March saw the installation of the first movie screen, and recent developments have included both exterior and interior enhancements to the diner.
Musk has envisioned this location playing highlight reels from some of cinema’s greatest moments, complemented by a nostalgic atmosphere complete with waiters on roller skates and rock and roll music.
Located at 7001 West Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, the site includes plans for around 32 Supercharger stalls and multi-level seating for the diner, enhancing the experience for visitors.
This unique combination of Supercharger, diner, and drive-in theater is pioneering, but there is speculation that Tesla might expand this model to other locations. Given that the company secured trademarks for its restaurant business in 2021, the success of this LA site could pave the way for similar ventures elsewhere.
