FYI: Tesla has launched its new under-door projection lights for the Model 3 and Model Y in the U.S. and Canada, following an initial release in China.
Tesla Rolls Out Puddle Projection Lights in North America
Tesla has officially introduced its under-door projection lights to the U.S. and Canada, several months after their initial debut in the Chinese market. These lights, also known as "puddle projection lights," illuminate the word “Tesla” on the ground whenever the doors are opened, adding a touch of flair and brand identity to the vehicle’s entry and exit experience.
Product Availability
The under-door projection lights are available for both the Model 3 and Model Y on Tesla’s web store in these North American regions. However, they are not yet compatible with the Cybertruck, the Model S, or the Model X. Priced at $65 in the U.S. (or $90 CAD in Canada), each purchase includes one light for the driver’s side and one for the passenger’s side doors. At present, this accessory is not available at Tesla’s Mexican web store.

Easy Installation and Appeal
On the product page for the Model Y version, Tesla describes the projection lights as follows:
"Model Y Projection Lights present a high-definition Tesla wordmark onto the ground every time you open the door of your Model Y. Includes two easy-to-install projection lights suitable for the driver and passenger’s side doors."
Previous Launch Patterns
This isn’t the first time Tesla has initially launched a product in China before bringing it to North America. A similar launch pattern was observed with the CaraokeMic®, which made its U.S. and Canadian debut in July 2023 after being introduced in China in 2022.
Range of Accessories
Tesla continues to expand its range of accessories across its vehicle lineup. While there are third-party variations of puddle projection lights available, Tesla aims to dominate the market with its first-party products, continuously rolling out new accessories for its existing and future vehicle models.
