FYI: Tesla celebrates a monumental achievement in sustainable transportation with the production of its 10 millionth drive unit.
### Tesla Hits 10 Million Drive Unit Milestone
Tesla has reached a significant milestone, announcing the production of its 10 millionth drive unit. The electric vehicle (EV) pioneer shared the news via a post on social media platform X, accompanied by a celebratory photograph of the Tesla drive unit team, marking this impressive accomplishment.
### A Snapshot of Achievement
The photo, posted on Tesla’s official X account, highlights the drive unit team’s pride and dedication. While the exact facility responsible for this milestone wasn’t specified, evidence points towards Giga Shanghai as the production site. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also took to X, congratulating the team with a brief but heartfelt message: “Congrats to the Tesla drivetrain team!”
### Giga Nevada’s Contribution
This milestone comes just under two months after Tesla announced that its Giga Nevada facility had produced its five millionth drive unit. Giga Nevada’s drive units predominantly supply Tesla’s Fremont Factory, indicating that a significant portion of the company’s drive units are made there.
### Global Collaboration
Another congratulatory post from Tesla’s official manufacturing account lauded the global teams behind this achievement. This synchronization across Tesla’s various giga-factories highlights the international effort to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.
### Record Production and Deliveries
Notably, Tesla achieved this milestone shortly after revealing its Q2 2024 vehicle delivery and production report. Tesla delivered 443,956 vehicles in the second quarter alone, bringing the total number of delivered vehicles to over 6 million since the original Tesla Roadster’s debut in early 2008. The bulk of these deliveries consist of the popular Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, available in single-motor and dual-motor configurations.
### Future Prospects
Tesla’s ability to manufacture 10 million drive units demonstrates its ramping capabilities and paves the way for further growth of its global vehicle fleet. With the burgeoning demand for the Model 3 and Model Y, this milestone substantiates Tesla’s capacity to support its expanding customer base.
