Tesla Model 3 Dominates Singapore’s Sedan Market in August 2024
Data from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has unveiled that the Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling sedan in the city-state in August 2024, outperforming all other models—be they battery electric or combustion-powered vehicles.
Breaking Down the Numbers
The LTA’s sales data for August 2024 shows that Tesla sold an impressive 186 Model 3 sedans in Singapore that month. This is significant, considering the Model 3 even outsold Tesla’s own Model Y, of which 122 units were sold. The numbers highlight the growing popularity of Tesla’s re-engineered all-electric sedan among Singaporean consumers.

In total, 972 sedans were sold in Singapore in August 2024. With the Tesla Model 3 accounting for 186 units, nearly one in five sedans sold was a Model 3. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given that the Model 3 is priced as a premium midsized sedan.
Competitive Landscape
Several other notable contenders were seen in the sedan market during the same period.
- Toyota: Sold 128 units of their petrol-powered sedan.
- BYD: Also sold 128 units of their all-electric sedan.
- Hyundai: Managed to sell 102 units of their hybrid sedan.
Broader Market Impact
Altogether, Tesla sold a total of 308 vehicles in Singapore in August 2024. This means that Tesla cars made up 7.8% of the 3,949 total vehicle sales in Singapore for the month. This is a strong market share, especially for a brand that predominantly sells just two models within the city-state.
Features Fueling Popularity
The reinvented Tesla Model 3 stands out as a safe, refined vehicle loaded with features that give it exceptional value. As attested by numerous reviewers, the re-engineered Model 3 is not only an excellent electric vehicle but a superb car in general. The uptick in sales clearly indicates that the Model 3 strikes a chord with consumers.
