According to a new report, Tesla’s highly anticipated Robotaxi unveiling, originally slated for August 8, has been rescheduled to October. This event was expected to introduce Tesla’s next major innovation.
Elon Musk first hinted at this development in April, suggesting it would significantly advance Tesla’s Full Self-Driving and autonomous vehicle technologies. However, it appears that the Model R prototypes are not yet prepared for their public debut.
Bloomberg reports that Tesla requires additional time to complete these initial units, which are based on the company’s latest-generation platform. This platform underpins the company’s, predicted stagnation in 2024. Developing this new platform entails more than just designing a new vehicle; it involves creating a whole new chassis from scratch.
Neither Tesla nor CEO Elon Musk has officially verified the delay.
The announcement of this postponement has negatively impacted Tesla’s stock prices. Following 11 consecutive days of gains—bolstered by a strong delivery report, impressive energy deployment figures for the quarter, and anticipation surrounding the Robotaxi event—Tesla shares had surged by 25 percent in early July.
However, news of the event’s delay led to a roughly six percent drop in Tesla’s share price on Thursday.
