FYI: Discover the breathtaking blend of automotive passion and architectural design at JEDM Garage in Jakarta, Indonesia.
For years, I’ve been captivated by the unique intersection of automotive passion and architectural design. During my first visit to Chiba-san’s residence in Tokyo in 2020, my interest in car-centric spaces was ignited. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to explore as many private automotive-themed sanctuaries around the world as possible. Today, we’re taking you to a remarkable place that perfectly encapsulates this dynamic—JEDM Garage located in Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK 2), Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Jewel of Jakarta: JEDM Garage
Nestled just outside Jakarta’s bustling city center, JEDM Garage stands on expansive grounds in a freshly developed enclave similar to Tokyo’s Odaiba and Ariake districts. Out of the ten new industrial units, JEDM Garage proudly stands out as the sole private garage, surrounded by high-end neighbors that include a Lamborghini service center and a luxury car dealership.
Crafting a Dream Space
JEDM Garage is the visionary manifestation of one man’s growing car collection. As Mr. Jedom’s collection expanded across multiple sites, the dream of a dedicated space materialized. What started as a car storage project quickly evolved into a dynamic facility designed to celebrate car culture.
Inside the Automotive Sanctuary
When I visited JEDM Garage during the Jakarta Elite Showcase, the breakout highlight was its outstanding layout. As you walk through monumental glass doors, you are greeted by a precisely symmetrical display containing a five-car lift to the left, effectively doubling the capacity to showcase ten vehicles. Opposite, six additional cars rest on the ground, under the cool and dry protection of five industrial-grade air conditioners—a necessary amenity given Jakarta’s notorious heat and humidity.
The centerpiece of this automotive haven is a pristine Signal Yellow 911 GT3 Touring, representing just a fraction of Mr. Jedom’s rare collection of European exotics and true JDM treasures like the Techart 992 Turbo S GTstreet Flyweight, one of only 19 produced.
Beyond the Cars
The dream continues beyond the vehicles themselves. The garage features a distinguished lounge area with plush leather recliners poised for enhanced car video viewing. A fully stocked kitchen promises gastronomic delights, while the extensive display of collectible wheels serves as functional art around an entertainment-ready TV screen.
Scale models, car show accolades, and an unaltered JZA80 Toyota Supra amplify the experience as they rest alongside an enchanting Japanese garden, skillfully integrated beneath the interior stairwell.
The Ultimate Car Enthusiast’s Retreat
More than just a garage, this space serves as the ultimate automotive aficionado’s retreat. Simulators for virtual racing, a conference-ready second floor adorned with high-end model cars, and an awe-inspiring mural of a BNR34 Skyline GT-R define the top-tier experience for all who step inside.
As JEDM Garage continues to evolve, more treasures await discovery. This marks the latest addition to our ongoing series showcasing automotive architecture at its finest. Stay tuned for further explorations, as this space promises even greater revelations in the future.
