Manthey Racing to Boost 992-Generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS Performance
Manthey Racing is setting its sights on enhancing the already formidable 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS. These upgrades are designed to push the limits of this track-focused beast even further with an array of performance enhancements.
Exciting Upgrades on the Horizon
Recent sightings at Manthey’s Nürburgring headquarters reveal prototypes of the updated 911 GT3 RS, sans camouflage, indicating that these modifications could be available by the end of the year. Car Spy Media captured footage showcasing Manthey’s prototype featuring several significant upgrades:
- Active Rear Spoiler: A larger, active rear wing to maximize downforce.
- Central Stabilizer Fin: Connecting the wing to a carbon fiber panel replacing the rear windshield.
- Enhanced Aerodynamics: New vortex generators at the rear of the roof and a redesigned rear diffuser.
- Aero Discs: Manthey’s signature aerodynamic wheel covers on the rear wheels.
Downforce Like Never Before
The standard 911 GT3 RS already generates an impressive 1,895 pounds of downforce at 177 mph—double that of its predecessor, the 991-generation. Manthey’s enhancements aim to build on this benchmark, focusing heavily on rear downforce to improve cornering grip and stability.
Performance and Handling Upgrades
While the 911 GT3 RS’s 4.0-liter flat-six engine will continue to deliver 518 horsepower through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, Manthey’s attention is on aerodynamics, brakes, and suspension. Expected upgrades include:
- Custom engine covers
- Adjustable coil-overs
- Specialized brake pads and brake lines
These improvements could potentially cut the stock Nürburgring lap time of 6:49.328 by a few precious seconds.
Manthey Racing’s Proven Track Record
As Porsche’s most accomplished customer racing team, Manthey Racing has achieved numerous race wins and championships, earning the privilege to compete as a Porsche factory team in events like the World Endurance Championship. This success has led to a selection of Manthey upgrades becoming available through Porsche dealerships, including those in the United States.
Looking Ahead
Porsche’s 992-generation 911 lineup is slated for updates in the 2025 model year, introducing a hybrid powertrain for the GTS model. However, the Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS trims will remain unchanged, though future updates are anticipated.
Manthey Racing’s enhancements promise to elevate the already exceptional performance of the 911 GT3 RS, making it an even more dominant presence on the track.
