Special Charity Auction: Mecum Auctions and West Coast Customs Join Forces
In a noteworthy collaboration, Mecum Auctions and West Coast Customs are uniting for a remarkable charitable event this May. Iconic custom car innovator Ryan Friedlinghaus is stepping into the spotlight at Dana Mecum’s 38th Original Spring Classic held in Indianapolis to auction off five of his cherished vehicles. Proceeds from this endeavor will fund West Coast Customs Academy, a dedicated nonprofit institution in Los Angeles focused on equipping aspiring custom auto builders with essential skills and resources to advance their passion into sustainable careers.
Unique Car Collection on Display
The fleet up for sale is as eclectic as one would expect from Friedlinghaus, celebrated for his creativity. The lineup begins with a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, showcasing the handiwork of West Coast Customs Academy’s class of 2024. This vehicle features custom air suspension, billet wheels, and intricate pinstriping. Additionally, a 2022 Toyota Camry 23XI, designed for street legal performance with a NASCAR-inspired aero kit, is set to turn heads. Also featured is a 2006 Dodge Charger offering a contemporary homage to the classic General Lee, and a 2012 Volkswagen Passat cast in a futuristic red glow. The standout of the collection is undoubtedly a Star Trek-themed 2018 Slingshot, adorned with a 3D hood, custom Lexani wheels, and elements inspired by the U.S.S. Discovery.
Empowering Future Automotive Creators
This auction carries significant weight due to its impact-driven mission. West Coast Customs Academy aims to provide hands-on education opportunities for students eager to partake in the custom car culture exemplified by this auction’s exhibits. Mecum Auctions, having a long history of supporting community outreach, aligns seamlessly with Friedlinghaus’s aim to foster automotive education accessibility. This event serves as a convergence point for car collectors, custom vehicle aficionados, and philanthropy enthusiasts alike.
