Xpeng Prepares to Release New P7+ EV, Showcasing Increased Efficiency and Range
By William Kouch, Editor of automotive.fyi
Xpeng is gearing up to launch the new P7+, an impressive electric vehicle that marks an evolution over its predecessors, the P7 and its successor, the P7i. The P7+ not only grows in size but promises astonishing electricity consumption figures, making it one of the most efficient EVs on the market.
Leading Efficiency in the EV Market
According to the latest data from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the P7+ will boast remarkable efficiency with an electricity consumption rate of about 11 kWh/100 km, or approximately 5.65 miles/kWh. These figures are comparable to top-tier electric vehicles like the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Lucid Air Pure.
Real-World Efficiency Comparisons
While the efficiency metrics are derived from the optimistic Chinese Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), translating them based on more conservative EPA standards provides an approximate efficiency of 3.7 miles/kWh. This brings the P7+ nearly on par with the Tesla Model 3 and slightly above the Hyundai Ioniq 6 equipped with all-wheel drive. However, it still falls short of the Lucid Air Pure’s impressive 5 miles/kWh EPA rating.
P7+ Specifications
- Battery Options:
- Base Model: 60.7 kWh battery pack
- Optional Pack: 76.3 kWh battery pack
- Range:

Upcoming Models: Mona M03
Not stopping at the P7+, Xpeng is also preparing to unveil the Mona M03, a smaller, more affordable electric sedan. Set to launch in 2025, the Mona M03 will be available with two battery packs: a 51.8 kWh option and a 62.2 kWh option, offering a range of up to 385 miles. The base model with a 320-mile CLTC range boasts an impressive efficiency, estimated at 6.18 miles/kWh, adjusting to over 4 miles/kWh when converted to a more realistic EPA-like rating.
