FYI: Zeekr’s midsize electric SUV 7X will be making its debut in Europe come 2025, featuring impressive performance and tech features.
Zeekr’s 7X Electric SUV Set to Electrify Europe in 2025
Zeekr, a premium brand under China’s Geely Group, is gearing up to introduce its new midsize electric SUV, the 7X, to the European market in 2025. Promising an exhilarating driving experience, the most potent variant of this model boasts an impressive acceleration time, hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds.
Performance and Range
Built on the advanced 800-volt Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, the 7X promises extensive range, robust performance, and cutting-edge technology. The vehicle will feature a 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack, which Zeekr anticipates will provide substantial range. However, the claimed 484-mile range under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) standards appears optimistic compared to more rigorous European testing standards. For European customers, the expected range is likely to align closer to around 300 miles under the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).
Dimensions and Storage
The 7X measures 190 inches in length and 76 inches in width, slotting between the Porsche Macan EV and the larger Cayenne. With a wheelbase of 116 inches, it offers ample interior space. Unlike potential three-row configurations, the 7X will exclusively feature a two-row setup, ensuring a spacious and comfortable experience for its occupants. Additionally, the SUV includes a generously sized 21.7 cubic-foot trunk and a remarkable 32 storage compartments to comfortably nestle all your belongings.
Power and Battery Specifications
While specific power figures have yet to be disclosed, Zeekr hints that the 7X’s highest-powered variant could borrow its 637-horsepower dual-motor setup from the Zeekr 007 sedan. For those seeking a milder option, a single-motor rear-wheel drive variant may also be available, offering 416 horsepower.
The 7X will offer two battery options: a 75 kWh model and a 100 kWh version. The smaller pack, made from lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP), charges from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes, while the larger pack takes about 15 minutes for the same charge. Though the 75 kWh pack delivers a CLTC range of 376 miles, European buyers can expect the 100 kWh pack to be the primary option.
Advanced Technologies
Tech enthusiasts will be pleased with the 7X’s array of advanced systems. Its Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) employ a combination of lidar, high-definition cameras, and millimeter-wave radars. This data feeds into two Nvidia Orin-X modules, which utilize AI to support semi-autonomous driving. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, one of the most powerful in the industry, ensuring a superior user experience.
Global Reach and Market Strategy
Zeekr aims to deliver the first 7Xs to Chinese customers as early as this month before expanding globally by 2025. The brand already has a significant presence in Europe, with headquarters set up in Sweden and operations in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway, and Denmark. Besides the upcoming 7X, Zeekr’s European lineup includes the 001 fastback and the X crossover, which shares its platform with the Volvo EX30.
Conclusion
Zeekr’s entry into the European market with the 7X SUV exemplifies the brand’s ambition to combine high performance, extensive range, and cutting-edge technology within an elegantly designed package. As the company continues to expand its footprint globally, the 7X is poised to be a strong contender in the competitive electric vehicle market.
