FYI: Zeekr introduces its powerful new 7X electric SUV to the European market, setting a competitive price and launch date for 2025.
Zeekr 7X: A New Player in the European Electric SUV Market
Zeekr, the burgeoning electric vehicle brand founded in China in 2021 to compete with local rivals like Nio and international giants such as Tesla, has officially unveiled its third model for the European market. The Zeekr 7X, a formidable electric SUV, is now accepting orders in Europe and is positioned as the largest offering in the Zeekr lineup.
Size and Platform
The 7X stands shoulder to shoulder with the Honda Prologue in dimensions but distinguishes itself with an advanced technological foundation. Built on the 800-volt Geely SEA platform, shared with numerous models in the Geely family, the 7X is akin to the Smart #5, both utilizing the PMA2+ variant of this platform. The introduction of a sedan version, the "007," hints at a future global release outside of China.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing for this robust SUV starts just below €53,000 ($55,650). Early adopters can expect deliveries to commence by summer 2025, with the potential for customization through four different paint hues and an optional upgrade to 20-inch wheels.
Inside Features and Technology
Internally, the Zeekr 7X offers a luxurious setting with standard Nappa leather upholstery and a hefty 16-inch infotainment screen. Drivers can enhance their experience further with a 36.2-inch augmented reality head-up display, creating a modern cockpit feel.
Battery Options and Performance Specs
Engineered for versatility, the 7X offers two battery configurations:
- 75 kWh LFP Battery: Offers a range of approximately 298 miles (480 kilometers) based on WLTP standards.
- 100 kWh NMC Battery: Extends the driving range to about 382 miles (615 kilometers).
Though WLTP figures might seem optimistic compared to U.S. EPA ratings, the 7X stands strong in the performance department. Equipped with a standard single permanent magnet synchronous motor generating 416 horsepower, it achieves 0-62 mph in just 6 seconds. For thrill-seekers, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version boosts power to an astounding 637 hp, cutting acceleration times to 3.8 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
Competitive Pricing
In terms of price comparisons, the standard model’s base price is €52,990 ($55,630), with the larger battery option available for €55,990 ($58,800). The high-performance AWD variant tops the range, starting at €62,990 ($66,150) and reaching around €70,000 ($73,500) with all optional features. This positions the 7X as a more affordable option compared to its slightly larger competitor, the Nio EL7, which starts at €74,000 ($77,700) in Germany.
Other Zeekr Models in Europe
Zeekr’s expansion in Europe includes the 001 fastback at €59,940 ($62,950) and the X, a derivative of the Volvo EX30, priced at €42,490 ($44,600). The latter shares much of its technology with its Volvo counterpart. Zeekr’s growth strategy has also seen a realignment of its resources, taking control of Lynk & Co to streamline operations within the Geely group.
Conclusion
Zeekr’s introduction of the 7X into the European market reaffirms its commitment to innovation and competition within the EV space. Offering compelling features, varied battery options, and competitive pricing, Zeekr is carving a distinct impression on the global automotive landscape.
